Is it really this quiet?

Hello Noreen and thank you for the welcome. Have you visited the Grand Ole Oprey? Now that is somewhere I think would be really worth a visit.

Hello Ophelia - I'm waving back to you! Falkirk is not far away at all. We lived in Kirkcaldy for 12 years and then retired across to Leven. My husband is originally an Oxford man and I was born in Birmingham. (Never picked up the accent though, as Mother was Irish and determined I would speak "properly").

Well David and I are both from Yorkshire and we came here to work:) I have been here over 20 years:))

We still have good Yorkshire accents:)) We shall go back when we retire:))

Thanks JCT. Those icy roads sound rather hazardous and it is always so comfortable to be able to stay indoors in that weather. You certainly have plenty to keep you busy.

Hello Shirley and thank you. In the early '90's we were involved in helping set up the Toyota factory at Burnaston and lived in Belper for just over a year. Is it difficult knitting with wire and does it take much pressure to keep the tension correct?

I love the Yorkshire accent - very warm and friendly. We also moved here with Rob's work (Marconi). We started married life in Cheltenham, moved to Cheshire, then to Leicestershire, then to Buckinghamshire, next to Derbyshire and last of all to Fife back in 1993.

That is beautiful work, and nice pics of where you live too! I live in the SW deserts in the states - been cold here too. There's about

25,000 people in town from around the country for a Cancer Marathon Run this weekend. The news channels are showing them shivering in the 20 degree temps! Hah! No one thinks the desert gets cold. Some of the people only brought shorts and tank tops to wear all weekend. They're in for a chilly run. Marie and the cats

I saw it but when it was in the old auditorium in downtown Nashville - about 60 years ago. We sat in church pews and whole families came and brought picnics as it went on for hours even though only one hour was on the radio.

Bernadette spun a FINE 'yarn':

Hi, Bernadette (I LOVE your name, one of my fave movies of all time was "Song of Bernadette'!) Yes, I've been to the Opry, AND have been to the 'original' Grand Ole Opty at the Rhyman Autotorium! BTW, I knit, crochet, spin, tat and work bobbinlace. Hugs, Noreen

JCT spun a FINE 'yarn':

Yes, the old Rhyman autotorium, known as the Motherchurch of Country music, and they still go back there and perform certain times of the year. Parking there is a royal pain, tho! Hugs, Noreen

Slow but not too difficult. Tension is something I do not worry about it just adds texture. Shirley

Hello Marie and thank you. Please give those "kitties" an extra stroke from me. We only have one little cat now, called Pepsi. She is a little battered one who came to stay and we made her so welcome she never wanted to go. ;-) She is a "talker".

When we lived near London I had as many as 9-10 cats at a time as we would take all the battered ones and re home them with kind people. I even bottle reared a litter of five. I'm hoping to put some pictures of my "pets over the years" into the photo album later in the year.

My son lives in Texas, near Houston, and he told me they were expecting sleet earlier in the week. I guess he may be on about the same parallel as you so I know it does get cold even that far south. I believe you can get frost and snow in the deserts of the south western USA - is that correct?

Despite the weather I hope he marathon goes well and they raise lots of cash for cancer charities.

Sorry! Typo, should read "the marathon".

Hi Bernadette! Welcome!!! (Today part of Norway seem to have got your stormy weather, but not the cold ! We are OK here, I have been for a long walk, there was snow at the ground, but not more than it was OK to walk.)

Thank you for showing your work! it is absolutely beautiful!

I like many sorts of yarn work, knitting, crocheting, weaving, embroidery, sewing, felting, but I haven't tried spinning yet! I am sure you will like to be a part of this NG!
