Just my two cents, mind you

I don't get the lemminglike desire to make a poncho just like Martha Stewart's. Then again, I dislike ponchos and never have followed other people's idea of "the trend", sooo...

Discuss if you're so inclined. If not, have another coffee.

Drinking coffee while I discuss it, Wooly!!! I'm not a huge trend-follower either, but I do like 'certain' ponchos.. but I'd have to say... a circular shawl is the 'bestest'!! LOL Noreen

I'm not into ponchos either. I didn't even like them way back when they were popular in the 60's, or was it the 70's?

But apparently someone out there likes them a lot because I just got the 3rd set of instructions sent via the internet. The first one I received was from Lion Brand, the second from Bernat and just a little while ago a third from Mary Maxim.

This could be, as Martha would say, "A good thing" for the yarn industry and knitting and crocheting because if enough people like her and want to emulate her they might just get hooked on doing handwork. I hope so.

I don't really like them either... and also didn't "back in the day". They just are not a very flattering garment, I find, though I really like shawls. My outfit of choice is jeans and a sweatshirt. I'm one of those who won't throw anything out til it is threadbare, and I HATE to shop. But I do need to get knitting a few more sweaters because I've gotten too fat for my old ones. ha ha Kira

No thank you. I cracked open my wine bottle this weekend. I need at least one treat.

I need to knit a few more sweaters and cardigans too, even though I'm the same size I always was. You know what has got mine? My purse. My aran jacket sweater has almost completely worn through on the hip from my shoulder bag rubbing against it. (sigh) Dora

I'm lucky and my size has stayed the same but living in Florida, where it's

60 f. at 8:30 p.m., I don't have much use for sweaters anymore. I've made a few cotton ones but they're such a pain to wash that it's just not worth it any more.

So now I'm making an afghan that I'll probably use as a blanket, or if it's big enough it'll be a bedspread. I really don't need another afghan, but it gives me something to knit on. I get withdrawal symptoms if I stay away from knit or crochet for too long a period of time.

We can try to mak our own version....but I am not much for ponch either, they leave my arms cold, and also you can't move your arms if you have to react quickly when you slip or slide for instance. I find them not practical enough.

Hi

I think I am like you and really don't like either the knit or crocheted ponchos. I have a fleece poncho myself which I like but have found that the ponchos that are knit or crocheted are extremely expensive to make.

I think I will have another coffee.
