Just my two cents, mind you

THe kids in my school wear them like sweaters UNDER their jackets. I must be uncomfortable, but the kids like them like that.

I have knitted with thin yarns years ago and I still have some of those old sweaters on a shelf in my closet. Because we have such a short season of weather where it's cool enough to wear even a thin sweater, I wear one of the old ones. That way they get laundered at least once every season.

Most of my other sweaters I gave away to people who can use them.

Do you mean a patch on the purse to reduce abrasion? Hmm. I'll think about it. I might have to switch to a knapsack as an alternative.

I've noticed pilling on the left hip of 3 of my sweaters, but the aran sweater is the worst one, and its 'season' is coming up. The fair isle sweater, which I finished last night, is fairly heavy and can be worn in its place, but I think I'm going to have to make that aran knit again. It was such a good sweater.

Meanwhile, time to start working on those cotton knits. I'm more inclined to light cardigans as a cover in summer than a poncho, or shawl. I have some gorgeous lace shawl patterns though, and have been eying a wool silk blend in the LYS the last couple of months, and might make a shawl, not because I want a shawl, but because that yarn would be perfect for one.

Too many things to make, so little time!

I guess that's one advantage to a poncho; the purse is usually UNDER it!

My 9-yr old DD does this! also sometimes slipps the poncho down around her hips (with pants on underneath!) and goes outside to play! Thers a poncho in a Penneys catalog I think, that can be worn either as poncho or a skirt...thats my kind of clothes, multipurpose!! LOL
