NYCO

Right -- he got douceur et soie yarn in the garnet shade -- it is really lovely. I think he had help from the LYS staff - but still, he got himself to a really nice LYS and made the decision to buy it for me. He even got a card punched and stuck it in the package so that I can count the purchase when I go in for other things. Good boy. His brother bought me a historical fiction trilogy - he says he knows I will love it as the person in the series who figures everything out is a woman. Overall a great Christmas.

Hi, I've been wondering what NYCO was and finally saw the explanation in one of the posts - what a great idea! I've never knitted anything for myself in

30 years!

I have two projects for myself and just need to figure out which one:

an aran knit from one of the Sirdar Seascapes Book using a natural color Sirdar sport denim (design F - how creative a name is that?) Here's the link to the book if anyone wants to look :

Kerrin Shawl from the Mission Falls East and West pattern book, using"oyster" - I actually bought the color and yarn exactly as in the patternbook - I think this is a first for me! I know I should not have purchasedthe wool, but I guess I'm a knitaholic - with no end in sight! Here's thelink:

I'll do both!

Oh no-o! Just when I was dragging myself away from the lovely aran sweater I had to see the shawl.....it's gorgeous! A girl can never have too many shawls, I think, sez she rationalising........

I'd go for both, but then I love Arans & shawls too! As for higs, it started off as a typo for hugs (can't remember who) and Katherine & I (similar warped sense of humour) were both rather taken with the idea of rcty higs. I just love the idea of a "whole group hig". And it seems to be catching on slowly. Well done the original typo-er; are you going to own up and take the plaudits? So Love & higs Christine

Do them both, Susan! I'd do the sweater first, and then the shawl.

"Higs/higz" is an RCTY version of "Hugs".

Dear Shawl Queen, Yeah, isn't that just beautiful? I was still in grad school when I was "window shopping" in the LYS in Ann Arbor, and I saw that book. There is no way I should have spent the money on the book, but I did because I did not want to lose track of that shawl pattern. They also picture it worn with a shrug, also done in an aran pattern. Ooohhhh...that designer has a lot of talent! Can you imagine getting paid to knit?

Do you have a picture of the aran sweater you're doing? I got a great pattern book from the library, with all aran designs - and some were very different, I thought. But, I will stick to "just" this one (or two) for now.

Higz,

Susan K

I'd sure like to, but I think there are at least eight items above it (them) on the priority list of knitting. If I could force myself not to knit in front of the TV (or not turn it on) I know it would go faster! Susan K

I like to knit in front of the TV, but can't get as good a tempo as I can without it on... I think it's the same thing like not being able to read with anything in the background (good thing I never had to live in a dorm) I am easily distracted. Can you say "ADHD?" In jest, Susan K
