OT - Signs of Spring! :o)

What a gorgeous day here (although it's very cold out and quite breezy)... the sun is shining brightly and the sky is blue and clear now. I saw my first Robin AND my first Cardinal of the year this morning. I actually heard the Cardinal when I was on the deck before I saw it. I stood there looking all around and couldn't see it. I came in the house and later when I decided to wipe some doggie nose-prints off the window, there was a Robin hopping along in the grass by the fence. As I looked up, I saw a Cardinal flying from our back yard to a tree on the other side of the parking lot beside us.

Gem,

It is so windy here in Jersey that some of the birdfeeders have blown clear outta the trees! We have lost some roofing on the coops, but all the left over leaves have blown out of the gardens to who knows where! Just lots of sticks to pick up by this weekend.

It ushered in a cold front, in the 20's again with the wind, but the daffs are starting to come out of the ground along with some other early risers.

Still the sun shines and I am glad that spring is on it's way. I am ready to do yard work again and get some fresh air.

I am glad you are seeing the birds. Don't ya love their songs in the morning, the cooing of the doves, and WAIT !! what was that noise on my house???? Just Woody Woodpecker doin' his thing! Yep! we got lots of them, they love the suet DH puts out. He melts shortening and mixes it with seed and freezes it. Then he puts them in a pre-bought suet holder. It is a big hit. I just hope my gutters hold out!

True. And I must say that I enjoyed my day off. I cleaned out Kandace's bedroom, ending up with one bag of garbage, and one bag of clothes for a friend of mine. Plus I knitted, and I was able to read for a while. Not a bad day, all in all.

Here we have crocuses and daffodils and primroses blooming. My camelia is about done - it blooms in February and March. The grass is green but the sky is rarely blue this winter -- mostly grey and rainy. We did almost get snow last week though (it snowed near here and we got a few big wet flakes but they didn't stick) and there is tons of it not far away in the mountains. Since we live next to Puget Sound that warm Japanese current in the Pacific does influence our weather and it is much milder here than our latitude would indicate.

I guess I had better run before Katherine gets after me too -- actually I am really running away - to Italy for the next week or so.

I'd have to dig through several feet of snow to get to rocks, so I think she's safe!
