OT: sock silly-ness!

The cocktail stick ones don't take two minutes to do Gem, then you can sit with your bead tin and play..lol

Bigger ones look great too, but I prefer the tiny ones, more delicate looking.

Do them in orange and black and hang them in the window for halloween??

I will, but I don't often buy sandwiches, but I worry about the danger to our pensioners and children, who often stop off for a drink and a sandwich somewhere...gosh...

Don't they sell plastic pics now?? They do over here, in the uk, maybe someone realised that wooden ones splinter?

As I was falling asleep last night the last thought that entered my head was the toothpick socks, and I wondered "How does she cast on?"

I don't have any toothpicks but I just tried it on sewing needles with embroidery floss and I found the cast on was easier than I thought it would be. But the sharpness of the needles hurt my fingers when I was pushing the stitches off and also tended to split the floss. I did a row of knit stitches and it was tricky but OK, but when I tried to purl it was just too hard and I gave up.

Do you treat the toothpicks any way before knitting with them? Are they smooth enough? And what do you use for yarn?

They do, but you can't use the plastic ones in cabbage rolls.

Here, we can buy round toothpicks, which are smoother than the other ones, and less inclined to splinter. On them I use sock yarn or baby yarn.
