I really had to think about this, then remembered that EVERYTHING I've ever made is in my journals, so I did a quick scan over the almost 42 years I've been at it, and the ugliest thing I ever knitted was: My first socks, done at age 11, and I still have them! They were ice-skating socks.... putrid colours. The ugliest thing I ever crocheted was: A kind of brownish-bluish-orangish-cremish throw, done broomstick lace, at age 9.
Amazing how one's tastes change, I made an afghan for myself at age 13 that at the time I thought was beautiful, and by the time I was 25 I couldn't stand it, my godchild ended up with it, she loved it till recently, and now SHE thinks it's now garish too!
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... depending on the stage of life they're in, methinks! :) Hugs, Noreen
