Ugly projects

Hi!

Just for fun... Which is the ugliest, knitted or crocheted, project you have ever seen? I remember seeing some HORRIBLE crocheted covers for the wc lid, but=20 can=C2=B4t share the pics (you=C2=B4ll not miss it LOL). Anyway, I vote for this one:

suppose these would look horrible even on the most beautiful woman... My crocheted nightmare is a cousin=C2=B4s bathroom. She has doilies=20 everywhere, and I mean everywhere, even on the wc=C2=B4s exit tube (where= it=20 connects to the wall) LOL... And you know, I LOVE crochet, but too much=20 is too much LOL

Hugs,

There is a Christmas party we go to every year for my husband's work group where we have a fun gift exchange. There is a crocheted pink poodle toilet paper roll cover (you know, to cover an extra roll and sit on the counter until someone needs it) that keeps resurfacing every year. It is made in a horrible mauve-y color and it has really seen better days.

I think at some time I must have thought it wasn't ugly, but I've changed my mind.

I have decided that I am going to complete all my unfinished projects before buying anything new. So far, this isn't going so well, but I have good intentions. I found a kit I bought many years ago, I think because I liked the idea of practicing the techinque of crocheting a coloured pattern following a chart. I knew how to do it in knitting, and doing it in crochet appealed to me. Of course, it turned out to be very simple, hardly worth buying a kit and special instructions to use. And my tastes have changed - oversized placemats in acrylic yarn crocheted with a geometric pattern in intense red and black just doen't appeal any more. I have three more to complete.

What about the knitted ski masks that were here a few months back? Now, THAT was ugly!

The most beautiful woman can carry off ANYthing...look at some of the truly ugly fashions out there now. Ratty hair going in every direction, skintight clothes with ragged edges, etc.

When I see a room like your cousin's bathroom, I always want to pull the mad crocheter aside and tell them about chemo cap donations, or afghans for Afghans, etc. to use up some of that excess crocheting energy!

I've had that same idea lately but I think I'd draw the line at finishing a project I've decided is ugly. It's like reading a bad book. There are so many good ones in the world. Maybe you should firmly deposit the ugly placemats in the garbage and move on.

My sister has everything covered; in her bathroom she has little guest soaps, with crocheted covers on the soap, arranged in a basket. I think she would be shocked if anyone unwrapped the soap and used it. Naturally, she also has a spare toilet paper roll with a crocheted cover.

Ah, who is to say what is ugly..... One persons's happy creation is another persons hateful thing.....What ever makes you happy

These socks are so crazy, they make me smile. I would wear those to bring some smiles to peoples faces. They certainly are attention getters, a fun thing I would say, made in wild colours even more fun....

OH MY GAWD! I think the ugliest things were those crocheted TP covers that had ugly, or as *I* say oooogly dolls crocheted in.... their skirts covered the extra TP roll. Second ugliest was the ORANGE afghan I knitted for Kelley and Pokey. Hugs, Noreen

Or donate the whole mess to a thrift shop or salvation army. Someone might find a use for the yarn, anyway.

I think I've seen a project pattern for crocheted covers that were not supposed to be removed when you used the soap! I think there was something about adding an exfoliating surface effect.
