Ugly projects

Oh yes! I really don´t understand the need of TP covers. What´s wrong with TP displayed in a toilet LOL? Isn´t it the "natural" place for it? :-D

Pokey.

I´m sure it was BEAUTIFUL :-)))

Admittedly, it WAS, I just didn't like working with that ORANGE... ewwwww! LOL!

Also, wanted to tell you... this was/is a FUN thread, Anna Maria... thanks for posting it! Hugs, Noreen

Mirjam, your tights remind me of a pair of maillots (that is what we called them in Holland when Iwas a teenager) I bought. They were poison green stripes with bright red stripes, made by a French company, with the name from a Russian ballet dancer on them. The stripes ran up and down along my legs and they were just marvelous. I just wore these tights untill the came apart, they were that often mended. At that time they were very in. Also I chumed around with a group of art students.....

I would wear those again if you just made that kind of tights again, they were so neat. Most likely most of you would think these ugly....that would probably egg me on to wear them more so....LOL

Hahahah Elsje of COURSE those were Maillots , but i don`t think anybody here would have understood that term ,,,,,i just rolled of my chair reading this name ,

I assume my father bought mine in the same shop you bought yours hahahahh they were big fun and were the talking of the school and town ,,, Having had at the time , matches and no feet at all ,, it was marvelous !!!!! Esp as i rode my bike , there were not many street lights and they seemed to warn the drivers about me !!!

Kind I do agree with you i would wear them again ,,, today !!! mirjam

I thought so Spampot, In Hebrew the names given to tights , went through some funny stages, first they were called Tights , which written in Hebrew was quite uncomprenensable , than as they were called Panty hoses ,,, if you wrote it in Hebrew , it bacme Penthouses [we do not have Vowels as letters, they are seprate and we mostly write without them.] Now somebody finnaly translated them into the Garbe-Michnas ,,,,Socks that are Pants = Panthoses .... Had they been called maillot in Hebrew one could calls this like Me`ot Hundreds ,,,,, :>:>:>:>

This reminds me that I used to wear hose to match my outfits so I had blue, green, purple, burgundy. Those were fun and I would wear them again.

spampot,

It is in Holland that tights are called Maillots, I would think that it comes from the French. But then the Dutch language has many French words incorporated in it.

Ohh yes I would still do that if I could find them. Colour is lots of fun to play with

Eimear, did you have a nice time, and are you now back to work again

Yes, exactly the same reason! My paternal GM had black hair, brown eyes and dark skin. Both her daughters were the same but *all* the boys were freckly blue-eyed redheads. I inherited all but the hair from my dad.

Sigh, I'm a relatively newbee to textile crafts and although I enjoy this group, I would hesitate to post any of my work here .

Mona, you certainly should not feel hesitant to post your work here. This is a very fun and helpful group of folks. While I am currently in a drought as far as crafting goes(I generally cross stitch and use a knitting machine), I enjoy looking in and seeing what everyone is working on, and listening to all the techniques and stitch analysis from the ladies and gents here at RCTY, and getting a bit silly from time to time, as well. There's a wealth of information here and good times, too.

Hi Mona,

I can't post any of my work either so don't let that stop you from coming in and telling us what you are working on.

No matter how experienced you get at all crafts, not all projects turn out the way we would like them. Rename them from ugly to works of art. It's the effort and time you put in that counts.

I've made some pretty good ones through the years...works of art that is.....lol....but i'm proud of them anyway, I've learned from them, you should too.
