The Cowboys (America's Team) play this afternoon at 3pm, I've a roast on, with baby carrots and baby potatoes... still ticks me off that parsnips are virtually unheard of here in middle TN, but ah well. I'll be spinning up some lov-er-ly merino. I'll be working on Terri's long skinny scarf, OR fingerless gloves for still another recipient. I end up gifting 99% of what I make, I really SHOULD consider keeping some for me.... Noreen

Yannow what? I only like parsnips in soup. They add a lovely flavour, but I find them too strong to eat alone.

I just finished roasting my coffee for the coming week so I smell like an upscale Girl Scout. We're having Thanksgiving dinner at church a bit later so I need to grab a shower or my hair won't have time to dry before we head out.
I've been spinning Romney all week as (mostly) worsted, turned into
3-ply that will probably be a sweater when it grows up. I'm also slowly stringing beads on scarf fringes - the commission fell through, though I'm not refunding the deposit. I now have fewer scarves to make by Christmas so I'm not in a rush to put on the beads. I did finally finish the caps on commission, waiting for the final payment so I can ship those off.I've given several spinning demos at school in the past few weeks. A surprising number of the older (4th grade and up) are interested in learning to spin so I have my work cut out for me starting in January. I'll be teaching spinning, knitting and frame-loom weaving to any kids interested during their regular enrichment periods.
Can you not grow them?
I'm not good at growing carrots and parsnips so don't ask advice :-) I'm keeping my fingers crossed about the salsify.

Hi, Mary! It's SO rocky here, plus I'm in a rental, so I don't think I CAN grow them, but now I'm thinking why not INDOORS????? Thanks for the thought! Noreen wondering now where to acquire parsnip seeds....................
Why not? You won't have carrot fly problems!
A seedsman, garden centre, nursery, there are loads of mail order catalogues (well, there are in UK, I get several a week), some hardware stores, many supermarkets, people who grow them and don't need the number you get in a packet ...

I finally made my self something. I had some wool tweed made in Germany that I purchased at the Salvation Army for 50 cents a skien!! I made it 7 inches wide and 70 inches long, I loved it. So soft, warm and looks great. It is just a simple 2x2 knit, it feels great.
