Sunday afternoon

Watching football, dye-ing yarn, hand-painting yarn, working on some fauxpainting techniches for an upcoming job, and smelling the roast that's been in the slow-cooker just about long enough (ready to eat!) Whatchoodewin?? Noreen :D

It's Monday here but it's Labour Day so we are on holiday. I've been spinning for the first time in ages this weekend - so nice to get back to. Also some dying, some knitting and lots of sorting - it's spring cleaning time and our place really needs it.

It's almost bedtime here and has been a lovely day. Lots of sunshine and temperature about 55F. Watched the Formula 1 race earlier and finished sewing up Jim's sweater (son in Texas) and will be able to mail it to him in a couple of weeks - not before that time as he is moving house. (I unpicked the original design as, being fisherman's rib, it would have done beautifully for a Scottish fisherman in the winter but was far too thick for a Texan workman)! ;-)

Spent a couple of hours chatting to him on Yahoo and catching up on the news. He is such good company and has a wicked sense of humour. This afternoon Rob (OH) and I planted some tulips, crocus and narcissus in the front garden ready for spring. The thought of the flowers always seems to make the winter go a little bit faster.

Off to bed now so wish you all a peaceful night.

I'm working on commissioned caps that need to ship by Thanksgiving, and waiting for my spouse to be fit for public viewing so we can get over to Meemaw's with dinner - which is ham & bean soup and a pan of cornbread, plus some sort of salad that we have to pick up on the way.

This really isn't ham&beans weather, but old habits die hard in Yankee transplants.

Let's see.................... Finished planting some tulips and 6 more perennials for my rock garden this afternoon. I've already planted over 100 tulips and daffs. But, I bow to my sister - she planted over 300 bulbs in one afternoon. She's five years older than I , and I'm in awe. (grin)

Right now, I'm sipping white wine and noshing on Wheat Thins. Time to go out for dinner. I'm NOT cooking tonight. I did laundry today and will work on the Peacock Feathers shawl when we get home from dinner. Yesterday I made two large jars of bread and butter pickles (from zucchini). They're awesome. A great way to use up zucchini! I finished the Storm Water shawl last week (or was it two weeks ago?) and there's a picture on Flickr, if you're interested.

Checking in late, but I was busy. Simmered a pot of home-made pasta sauce on the stove while watching a NASCAR race and weaving in the ends and sewing seams on a short-sleeve fall sweater and then looking through my patterns trying to decide which cardigan I should make, since when doing the week's grocery shopping midday, the wind had a nasty bite to it on my bare arms.

Spike Driver. . .

I've been an America's Team fan since before the infamous "ice-bowl", which, by the way, I attended with my mother, as my (rip) Uncle Paul was a season ticket holder of GayBayPecker seats. Hugs, Noreen
