Sunday morning coffee

Finishing up the Sirdal sweater this am - just need fold up and sew the bottom hem and put on the buttons now. Also starting the sleeves on my NYCO now that I have ripped out and repaired the mistake that was bugging me. If all goes well I should have it done soon. The last few days I put these on hold to do my squares for Kira - but they are now in the mail.

We are heading to town this afternoon as my youngest son and his friends are hosting a Dad's Day barbeque for their families. There will be around 30 people or so - or at least that is the number reflected in responses to their Evite. After that we are heading to a play. The weather is absolutely perfect - which should help a lot at the barbeque as inside the boys' house is not the place for parents. They do clean the bottom floor for the occasion but I am certain they don't want any mothers to explore much. (4 boys live there - all around 30 years old- enough said). The rainy day plan was to cancel the event, so I am happy for them that the weather has cooperated.

We heard from DS#1 yesterday - he and the band had a day off to enjoy London - he has been traveling in the UK with one of the bands he has recorded in his studio -running their sound equipment and generally keeping the 18yr olds on the straight and narrow. (He is 38-- has observed that it is a good thing that people don't generally start families with teens.) DD also checked in yesterday - she had good news for a change as she was promoted to full professor - usually we talk about her worries instead as her DH is going through chemo.

Congratulations to your DD. Where is she a full professor? I hope that her DH gets good results.

I totally agree with your DS. I teach senior high, and if I had had teenagers instead of babies, I would never have survived - or they wouldn't. I love my students, but in small doses, please.

My DD teaches at Rutgers University. Thanks for the good wishes for her DH - so far so good with this round as it seems to be helping.
