I don't know why it would be a hassle, unless you order so much that Canadian Customs tries to get a slice of the action. The vendor is in Seattle so I'd even expect fast(ish) shipping to you.

I was poking around a bit more and there are some other things on sale, like the Regia cotton/wool blend, and Noro Big Kureyon, among others.

Might not be entirely as they're located in West Seattle. (I could drive by there........)

Oh, who am I kidding? Of course I'll end up ordering something, much to my bank account's dismay :-)

Wooly you are right they do have lots of great bargains. However with the duty, shipping and 15 % GST and Provincial tax it is not worth it, sadly, but as it stands their prices are good bargains.

Katherine, you are right, I totally forgot to add the exchange. Doing a quick calculation, I am over the $10 allready. When I go to the loom here that is about what I pay for 100 gram of sock wool of different brands. To bad, I had dreams of getting some of it.

I didn't feel too badly about it, as I ordered five balls form Elann the other day. This is my first time ordering from them, so I will let you know how that goes.

Gah, I just had a look at your customs/import regulations - does Customs put a tax on air that moves north across the border?

I order from them all the time. They ship to the US from Point Roberts

- a tiny piece of US land in Canada that can only be reached by land from BC - and get things to me in a couple of days. They are great - I have had no complaints. They maintain both US and Canadian locations and sell in both currencies. Orders to the US under $200 can be sent from their US site with no customs problems - above that they have to be shipped from Canada and go through customs - but I have never been even close to that. The Point Roberts location means using US postal service which seems to speed things up. They ship to Canada from a BC location - I suspect they are very close to each other.

I think they would if they could figure out a way to do it! So much for NAFTA!

Judy, I could be wrong, but I believe the Point Roberts address is only a post office box. I think they only have the one location and it's in Canada. The $200 limit also probably has something to do with them bringing those parcels across the line for mailing to the U.S. customers. Their phone & fax numbers are for B.C. location, which is the only one with a street address.

I order from them a lot too and love their service and especially the prices. I also enjoy checking every day to see "what's new". I have seen yarns I've never heard of before. ;>)

I think our Canadian friends' problem is that Customs puts tax on everything coming into the country so even if you buy it on their behalf and mail it they'll have to pay upteen million funny Canadian dollars in tax.

Or I could be full of it.
