OT: New Home

Well, I just have to share!

I have recently bought my first home, a 2 bedroom apartment. Naturally, the larger bedroom will be my work/sewing room :-)

There is a lot of work to do on the apartment - the building is from

1947, and other than wall paper and paint nothing much have been done since then. Until this week... We tore out the kitchen (keeping the best pieces of wood for shelving in my storage unit in the basement of the building), and I am now busy sanding wood work and planning the new kitchen just right.

The kitchen is very small (but at around 65 sq feet at least twice the size of my current kitchen), so some choice are non-existant. After much thinking, I'm having the gas (for cooking) piped to the other side of the room (same side as the water), so that I can have a narrow worktop on one side of the galley kitchen.

Also, all new electrics in the entire apartment.

You might think, I'm crazy, but even with all this the price is good, the location is nice and perfect cycling distance to work and Scouts, and also pretty quiet (which I like). There is a nature reserve 3 min walk away with about 15 km of walking and cycling tracks, and lots of birds.

Well, all sewing and crochet has been put on hold, only crafts that will be done before moving are those required for Scouts. But I'm pretty sure I'll keep busy!

My parents were here for a few days helping out, and two days later my Mum called to say she was missing my apartment, and could she come again next weekend. My Dad, well, he is just busting his behind working on my new home. I'm so lukcy to have them.

Your apartment sounds great. Isn't it fun to redo it the way you want it? Congrats!

Yes, it is. Seeing the stripped kitchen was a bit scary though. And the

70's wallpaper behind the warddrobe that we took down was very scary (but it is a small space and it is coming off easily).

But once it is done, it will all be great. And then I can start saving to have the bathroom done :-)

Happy, happy for you. And yes, you are so blessed to have your parents enjoying the adventure. We've laughed a lot at the 'bottom' layer of wallpaper as well as the base tile in our own home. Makes you wonder "What were they thinking?" Polly
