Still fine

There were several tornadoes last night to the south of us. One has destroyed a little town in southern AR called Denning. There was another one just over the state line in Oklahoma, and a possible third just to the west of Ft. Smith. This morning, they believe that 3 people were killed in the storms last night. We had big storms, but nothing anywhere near that bad.

And I found something that really helped Charlie get through it. He is petrified of thunderstorms. He's so scared of it, I have to turn off the flash on my camera to take pictures if he's around. From his actions, he must think the flash on the camera is lightning. After having 2 friends reccommend it to me and looking at the website, I bought him a Thundershirt yesterday.

I put the shirt on him before the storm started. Usually about an hour before the storm starts up, he will start pacing and panting. By the time the storm actually gets going, he shakes and pants nonstop.

Last night, he only got upset once. There was a lightning strike somewhere close by, close enough there was no pause between the flash and the thunder. And it was LOUD!!! He came to me quivering. (stood up on the bed) I touched his shoulder and told him to Shh! That was it. He laid down and didn't make a peep the rest of the storm. He actually slept through 90% of the storm. :) Success!!!! $36 very well spent.

Thanks for reporting in, it is good to know you are safe and sound.

A "quiet" night at 36 bucks is definitely money well spent, and it will amortise out at less and less per storm.

Sharon, Thanks for letting us know that you are safe. This weather and storms have to be very nerve wracking for you. I'm glad you found a way to help Charlie. Poor guy, he must be so happy to have his new shhhirt to help him relax. it's so much better to be able to use something like that, then having to resort to medications for him. Juno

Thank you just so much. Yogi is terrified of storms - he knows they're approaching long before the tv weather guys are even suspicious. Mr. Esther worked at a chemical plant for more than 40 years and any sort of sudden noise makes him jump too. Reckon there's a Thundershirt for old fellows? ( I ordered one for Yogi and am so glad you told us about it.) Polly

I was up till about 2 a.m. Watching the weather channel. Of course, DS was in Dallas this week on business and we talked 2-3 times. The hotel brought the guests from the NW upstairs part of the hotel down to the lobby, during the worst part of the storm. He said the worst part of the whole thing was the noise from the sirens.

You're so very welcome, Polly. I sincerely hope it helps Yogi as much as it has Charlie. Charlie also doesn't like if the wind blows through the house (when the windows are open.) He starts pacing and panting. Today, it wasn't raining, and the temp and humidity were both down. So I opened the windows (with two teenagers in the house, fresh air can be a Very Good Thing. LOL) It was Very windy all afternoon. Charlie started pacing. I put his shirt on him. Within just a few minutes, he was curled up asleep on the living room floor. It's flat amazing.

As for the Mister........if his chest measurement lines up with any of their sizes....... LOL Or you could wait till you get Yogi's shirt, study it, adapt a pattern and make him one. ;)
