weird, weird, weird

When Denver Fabric had challis on sale I ordered a piece to make a skirt. Never came, never charged to my credit card. I sent them an email and they have no record of the sale. Since it's no longer on sale I'll have to wait before ordering it again. I promised my middle daughter I'd make her a couple of skirts for the winter. She just got a new job and wants a few new pieces in her closet. She doesn't feel comfortable going to work in her "mommy at home" wardrobe. So I'll spend the money on things she wants since I really don't need more right now. Juno

That is weird. I just clicked the link I had sent you, it returns a "No Products Found" page. And a search for their challis no longer has any of the nice sale prices. That sale started in late August, they must put a very short time-limit on their sales. Sorry! I have had good service from them in the past, but the original store was bought out (by fabrics.com?) after that.

I think I would be inclined to CALL their customer service number, and escalate the issue.

for a supervisor. Tell him/her that this issue is being discussed on a internet sewing group. :->

Follow-up: I just checked the original message from denverfabrics.com, and when I brought up the link, it said "Dear Fabric Enthusiast: Save big on some of our best fabrics with our Entire Stocks Fabric Sale. Great for the new season; these sale prices are good through September 5, 2011."

When did you place your order?

Iccky says: "Call their cust. svc. no.", "Escalate the ISSUE", "Ask for a supervisor", "Tell them this "ISSUE" is being discussed on the internet". The sky is falling, the sky is falling.

Said "ISSUE" is a tempest in a teapot: someone didn't order in time to get a few pennies off on a sale and it's an ISSUE already? No money changed hands: no harm, no foul.

So Iccky chimes in with free advice on how to bully a vendor. Typical. She's run out of trumped-up complaints about JoAnn Fabrics, is my guess. Move on, ladies, move on. JPBill

I placed the order on September 3rd. I've ordered from them before and never had a problem. I'm not so sure if the problem is theirs or mine, I think I'll let it go this time. I'd rather spend the extra money on the skirts for my daughter, I know exactly what she wants and think the money will be better spent on her. Budget, budget, budget for both of us. This way I can make her a very nice gift. She really likes this one

Thanks Polly. Fashion Fabric club bought out Denver fabrics a couple of years ago. They do have the same fabric but as I said, I think this time I'll spend the money on my daughter. she has far mor need of skirts than I do and they will be a nice gift for her. Juno

Did you print off your order confirmation/receipt? If so, I would definitely escalate this to someone higher up a denverfabrics.com. As I recall the challis was under $4.00/yard. They should make good on it.

I though I would also pick up a micro suede solid for her. That's a cute print! Micro suede should also work nicely for business wear.

No I forgot to do that, that's why I think it m ay be my error. Possible I didn't actually complete the process. IF I had the confirmation in hand I would be screaming.

Thanks, I don't usually use a pattern when I make skirts. Just draft out what I want. She wants something a little full and long enough to look good with boots. So I'm thinking a 4 panel will be nice. the final decision will come when I have the fabric in hand and can feel the weight and drape. The micro suede will probably be a six gore and again long enough to wear with boots. She's working in a school and needs something comfortable and easy to take care of. Juno

Juno, that's beautiful fabric and IMHO, will make a lovely skirt.

Of course, if it were for me, I'd have to buy the Birds of Norway. I like bright colors, but then, I am no longer working.

Actually I love the birds of Norway, but Steph likes browns and beige so much more. Her skirts, her color choices. It's funny but none of my children like the same colors I like. They all have more olive under tones to their skin and really do know what looks best on them. Bill prefers a lot of the same colors they do. He also has an olive undertone. I'm the paleface of the family and have very fair Irish coloring. Juno

Right now I'm waiting for her to send me her hip measurements so I can decide how much fabric to order. I keep telling her it's just a number and it can't possible be as high as mine.lol I think she's so tired at night right now she hasn't got the energy to pull out the tape measure. She has 3 children and a very big house, so it not like she's doing nothing. she has learned how to delegate chores though.

No. They were bought out by fashion fabrics club. I have never been happy with the customer service from ffc. Ever. I could go on and on. But short story, they don't update the site frequently enough to know what they have in stock, they don't email if something you order sells out, etc. Very frustrating. I was terribly sad to see the real Denverfabrics.com go.

Denver is still there but they are owned by Fashion Fabrics Club. Denver looks the same but isn't the same good company they once were. . If you look on The 2 sites you'll see the same stuff.
