Thanks Diane. The socks were made with that new space dyed yarn. It sure was fun to use, seeing all the neat colors and patterns that came out as I worked along. I made one last trip to the craft store before it closed for good and was able to get a bunch more of that type of yarn and a lot of specialty yarn for about $1.00 a ball. I have enough to keep me busy making lots of socks LOL. Marie and the cats

Thanks Katherine. Tim brought me to the yarn store and picked out that yarn himself. It is a great color on him. P.S. He can't have the sweater before Christmas -and it will probably take me that long to pick all the CAT hair out of it. LOL Marie and the cats

Marie, Thanks for sharing your pictures. They are great, as is your knitting. I also have a very large sweater to finish...but, I haven't picked up that knitting in months! LOL

I admired the sweater, which will be a marvelous Christmas gift, and the socks as well. Do you happen to remember the brand name of the self-striping yarn you used?

Both you and Katherine made the same comment which made me smile. Red and green are complimentary colors and, if I remember correctly, both of you indicated you are red heads.

Thanks Jan. The socks that are primarily green, blue and yellow were made of: Fortissima Colori Socka Color #9071, it comes in 50 gram balls so you'll need two of course. I got this yarn at my LYS and it was $8.50 a ball. The socks that have the pink and red stripes (along with the green and blue) is: Moda Dea Sassy Stripes which also comes in 50 gram balls. I got this at the local craft store - similar to Micheals, it was called Craftmart and has since closed because the owners retired. I believe it was $7.00 a ball or somewhere around that figure. It was the first time I've worked with a self patterning yarn and because I wanted the stripes to match on each sock, I had to unravel the yarn from each ball until I found the same color sequence. There's usually plenty of yarn to do this, my cuffs are 7 to 8 inches long and I had quite a bit of yarn left over. I measured out how much yarn I would need for my cast on and made the starting cast on loops at the same place on each ball of yarn. The ball I wasn't using, I secured the loop with a tiny stitch holder so I wouldn't lose my place. The stripes did match up perfectly! Let us know how you get on! Marie and the cats

It's funny because Tim isn't a redhead and I am but we both love this color too. He is very fair skinned, being half Irish, with black hair and mustache and this color is one of the best he could ever wear. He brought me to the yarn store and picked out this yarn himself. I was impressed. He also doesn't leave any dirty crusty socks laying around and got me a BIG gift card at the yarn store for Christmas last year. He also tells everyone that I'm a better cook than his mom

*gasp*. I may have to keep him LOL Marie and the cats
