AD: Tillerman Beads eBay auctions now up

It's not a lot as yet because much of the lampwork is in the kiln annealing or waiting for photos, but I've got the first of the beads up on Mike's new shop on eBay.

I'd love as much feedback as you want, it's such a steep learning curve but I think we're at least going the right way.

I'd add a gallery view, esp. since you are using a storefront and esp. for the lampwork items. Looks great, otherwise! I love Ice Berry II.

Su, Some of your pictures are not loading. Out of the three bracelets I tried to view, only the green lampwork one came up. Patti

Su, Please ignore previous post about your pics not loading. I guess I didn't wait long enough, they did finally come up. Good luck with your new venture! Patti

Thanks. I didn't get that far into the storefront yet, it's changed a lot since I had one a while ago.

I'll put them up in a gallery view today. And thanks for the compliments from Mike. He has some new stuff in the kiln and some ready to anneal that he's really happy with so they'll be up in a day.

I found that while uploading the auctions the pictures were being difficult, but came up after. I've deleted my temp files and then checked the auctions, they're all up there now.

I also found that a refresh did bring them up, so I can't figure out if it's eBay or my server. *sigh* Thanks for letting me know. I think that it's been very buggy lately online, I can't get half of the newsgroups today and going out surfing has been a problem too. I'll see what I can do about the auctions, though. And thanks for looking.

Argyle! I like it.

Busy, busy today. Will look more closely later.

LOL. It's actually a variation on a traditional boat decoration, but it's based on repeating diamonds and triangles, like the Argyle tartan.

Thanks. Feedback is always welcome, and acted upon.

How cool. I've never seen a boat with a decoration like that.

It's used on spaces like the bow of the boat, the upright supports for the cargo covers and the front support called a cratch. Normally they're in primary colors but I did one based on our boat colors and teal (which is my fave color).

UK canal boats are traditionally painted in a very folk-oriented style in the cabins if they're old working boats. Lots of people have adapted the rose and castle style to modern boats too. We don't have any of the rose and castle painting on the boat but do have a design called 'mouse ears' on the stern doors, and Mike's promised to finally paint an 'eye' on each side of the bow.

That's going to look cool. Will you post photos when he is done? I mean if he ever gets out of the SHED. LOL

I dunno, we got a new shipment of glass today, and he's out there polishing his glass and fondling his glass and well.... let's just say he's a happy boy, or as happy as he can be with his car in the shop. It's funny watching him pine away for a hunk of metal like that. I don't drive so I depend on him to take me places, it's funny watching him cope without being able to just _go_ where he wants.

Keeps him in the shed, though!

As for the eyes, of course I'll post some pics. Boats need eyes to see where they're going, which might explain all the paint scrapes we've had since he hasn't gotten around to painting them yet.

Now that you mention primary colors, I think that I might have seen something like your Website graphics on the bow of a boat. And I have

*definitely* seen eyes painted on boats--right here along the Georgia coast, as a matter of fact. The boats with eyes are usually small boats owned by independent fishermen, and the eyes are bold and dark, visible from quite a distance.

Your boat sounds really cool...a floating piece of artwork. How wonderful!

The art is called 'Roses and Castles' and is much discussed and written about, it's claimed to be folk art with roots in Europe, but no one really knows why it became popular to decorate the hatch doors with castles. I think it was because someone could paint them and that's what the customer got.

For a bit of info on it:

It looks great! The only change I'd make is to specify that you are a husband-and-wife team, and that she makes the jewelry while he makes beads. That adds a personal touch... people like to really feel they know the people behind handcrafted goods.

Eeek, then no one would buy anything if they knew I was behind it! (just joking)

I'll give it some thought, I sort of have been used to being the eminence grease behind the man in front.

I've seen sites that have husband wife teams. I like having them identified as such so I know who the beadmaker is whose beads are used. "Real artist made beads" and 'artist made jewelry", etc, gets ambiguous. It makes things more real when the two artists are identified, with pride.
