I wish! I hate to say it but crafts here tend to lag behind the US significantly.
Add to that the fact that beadmaking is still done by a very few in proportion to the population, I think there are medium-sized cities in the US who could collect more lampwork artists in one place for a meeting than the UK in total. It's growing though, and it was a real blow to everyone that there isn't going to be a UK-based magazine. That said, there was a lot of concern by beaders that the mag was going to be fluffy, celebrity-driven eye candy with little substance.
The two beading societies publish very good journals, we're members of both and the work in them is extremely good, but it would be good to see a commercial, wide-spectrum beading magazine here. I'm sure it would be well-received.
Either way, I'm relieved I never sent in any money for advertising.
