I need some help with a name

*I* like that a lot -- but then, I'm very fond of wordplay in general. However, one small caveat: "coffer" is not a commonly-used word these days, and it might be misread as "coffin"!

Don't laugh. We were at a show with the buttons last weekend, and you would not BELIEVE the number of people who (1) stand at the table and read the buttons out loud to each other, and (2) read them INCORRECTLY! They literally cannot read a simple sentence as written. These weren't all kids, either -- half of them were my age or older. It's sad.

Exactly what I was commenting about, LOL.

You could have borrowed mine. and have had Marissa's Allcrafts.

I was invited to a show many years ago and was taking 3 friends with me. When I got there I was told it was trade only and I was upset that we had trailed a long way to get there. I wondered why I got the invite in the first place.

However I got us in by saying I was starting a company called "Allcrafts" and I had some of my proposed staff with me.

It was a joke in the family afterwards. When I went on line my son gave me the host name of Allcrafts and it as stuck. Shirley

Well thank you for the offer Shirley, but I have my name now. It is Marissa's Craft Basket.

I will be putting up a pic of my business card tomorrow when I can print out a page of them.

Same thinking as mine - Hummingbird Crafts - I picked hummingbird because I'd just bought a lovely brass hummingbird stencil for embossing.

Oh no! That means I need to name my fictional store "Smelly Dog Arts." I just bought a rubber stamp of Sophie, and she definitely is a smelly dog right now.

Obligatory Sophie/Grandpa Story: My father in law hates animals. Just ask him. He tells Sophie to shut up, calls her "the darned mutt," and grumbles every time he sees her. Of course, he's a total fraud. He used to buy her cold cuts each week until I stopped him, and if I'm out of the house, he invariably goes upstairs to get the dog, so they can watch wrestling together, each on their own sofa, along with appropriate snacks.

Yesterday, I reminded him that Sophie is having her dental surgery next week. Predictably, he said that the surgery cost too much money, and that I should just "shoot the little loudmouth instead."

I told him that I wasn't going to do that, and besides who would tell DD that her dog got offed because of money?

Grandpa gulped and quickly replied, "Oh no, no, no. Once you got 'em, you've gotta take care of 'em. Them dogs rely on you, and the baby loves the mutt." (The baby is DD -- she'll be 14 next week and the baby all her life)

I smiled and went to go back upstairs, but Grandpa couldn't resist a parting shot. "But kiddo, make sure that when this one goes, you don't get another of those things. You know I hate animals."

Yeah, sure.

I feel strongly that my work is specifically a reflection of me. As such Tina Peterson (and Pete too) produces work as Petersons Pieces.

It seems to me that art work should be known by the artist, and it seems to me that men have no problem proudly naming their art work as theirown, in their own names.

Also, I find it confusing to remember which real name, which nickname and which business names all go together. I hate looking for the work of an atist and having to remember an unrelated name. Or maybe confuse it with someone with a similar name.

Also, artists grow. I might be happy with being a ladybug or goddess at some time in my life, and then need to grow into a tiger. Twenty years ago I would have liked cute. Ten years ago I was a warrior. Now I am something different, and very hard to define. I carve wood and stone and ivory; and I bead weave, string and crochet; and I make products connected to healing. Only my own name can contain all those things.

I would not have known that at 30. Age does have some rewards. But if we can act using someone else's knowledge as a template, sometimes we can speed up our own speed of learning.

I'm thinking especially of people with Depression using nicknames like "nobody", or "zero", and people who journal who only write down the bad stuff. It's important what we emphasise to ourselves.

Sorry to be mixing subjects here.

I think you are supposed to use your street name for the last name, but leave off the "Ave." or " St." part. Sarajane

Margie (and some of you may not want to read on, LOL) -- I just got this. Me Muffy, you Sampson. You would be required to wear strange appendages that would turn it into more of a comedy, in my opinion. LOL. But it is a FUNNY scene.
