OT: Sick of Stories? (periodic posting)

Kathy can you keep me updated? I'm on disability too and am having a slight problem with income vs losing benefits.

I would be interested in what you learn.

Can you have it done in your daughter's name? something like "the collected works of my mother's writing's" and then the money sent to her name?

Just an idea to look at?

Kathy,

Is there no limit on it? Eg could you earn a small amount from a hobby-like enterprise?

I know you can for unemployment... but I realize that there the motivation is different.

Nothing. Not one dime. It's totally ridiculous, because I'd love to earn something, and it wouldn't bother me if they deducted $1 for every $1 I earned. But if I do any gainful employment, I will have my entire check taken away. I can't afford to do that. It's a very restrictive disability policy, and rather short-sighted, I think. If they let me work just a little, they could pay me less. It would also allow me to keep up with my computer skills in the event that I was blessed to get well enough to go back to work.

I usually don't have time or the energy to read everything on RCB. And I try not to respond to some threads (such as vibes threads, or stories) to keep the NG from becoming hopelessly clogged.

Enough said. :-) ~~ Sooz

I'm assuming this isn't SSI.

No, it's the private disability insurance. SSDI has slightly less restrictive regulations (I think you can earn $400/month). SSI is for low income disabled people, and we don't qualify. (Pretty much anyone who owns a home doesn't qualify for SSI) Kathy N-V
