Paua shell from Harry

I have just got the most gorgeous shells from Harry. The colours are wonderful. Now I need some inspiration to use them.

Harry and I have done an exchange but he is having a little wait for his package. I am going to an antique fair on the 11th and have been promised some more little spoons. Also I want to see what else I can find to put in his parcel.

I am going to make Harry a member of "Shirley's Spoon Club".

I was hoping that my youngest son would be able to go to the fair with me but he has to return to his ship 5 days early.

That as spoilt my plans for a family dinner that day because it is also my birthday on the 11th. We were going out so I would not be doing the cooking.

I can recommend the shell from Harry, it is so pretty. Love Shirley

Sent you a longer response in the email about your dinner plans. Harry

Shirley sends spoons to people here and calls it her spoon club. Of course that depends on her supply and what she finds at the fairs. She is so seet and generous, as well as being a renaissant artist.

Oh, Harry - you will love Shirley's spoons - they are so cute and really handy for scooping up small things like beads. Enjoy!!

Well Shirley... between Tina and Kandice I am really excited about recieving your SURPRISE package. :) The spoon sounds like it's going to be a very treasured item for me and I just may make a shadow box and encase it surrounded with Paua Shell trim. :) I will wait for the package before I start construction on the shadow box. I have 3 made but I am not sure they will hold the spoon. I guess I will have to wait and see. January is going to be a loooooooong month. lol

Oddly, I use mine almost daily -- for its originally intended purpose -- as a salt spoon.

**chuckle** there is very rarely any salt on my table to use.

I rarely pre-salt food. And I like the flavor of the kosher salt, which won't go through shakers.

ah - i don't pre-salt food either. but i've been on a low-salt diet as much as possible for years. so much processed food already has more than enough salt than is good for me.

i understand your preferences, tho!

there are some things I salt...raw potatoe, apples, watermelon, boiled chicken liver (yes, I am weird), boiled eggs, and pinto beans. I very rarely salt anything else. I season (and might use onion salt/garlic salt), but I don't really that "salting"...and am more likely to use garlic/onion powder.

Do you have salt cellar to put the salt in. Maybe I shall have to see what comes along at the antique fair. If I remember rightly your spoon was one of the plain elegant ones. Shirley

Exactly. A plain elegant one. Very touchable and well-balanced. I have several bowls I use depending on my mood. A cheap little clay pot from Mexico which sits by the stove. A couple very small (individual) vaseline vintage bowls. A pretty little green bowl. And even a plain etched votive candle holder. They're fun.
