The SciFi channel is a continuation of the one on BBCAmerica - same production company, same Rose (until the end of this season).... Just a new Dr. It premiered last year with CE. Apparently BBCA is showing it in syndication

Ok - I haven't been watching much TV - but found DR Who on BBCAmerica while folding laundry (the only chance I get to watch TV of late).

LOL - just watch for how much you talk back to it - out loud, that is. I've been knitting scarves at the CAPS games. Finished the first one (just need to add the fringe). Then picked up what was in the backpack - a combination of pink/orange ribbon yarn, and some deepest of the pink/fuschia nubby cotton/rayon with some shiny pink fuzzy stuff (hateful to knit with). It's just a free form kind of lacey pattern I'm doing randomly. At one point, one of the refs looked up at us - looked at DH - then pointed at me and mouthed "For ME?" As I held up the bright pink confection and mouthed back

- "It's your colors" - much laughter in and out of the stands (guys were waiting on a TV time out for the drop). Now I'm on the black angora mixed with a chenille grey/silver/white/black ribbon and another same color kind of more open rayon ribbon that knits up looking like persian lamb. Don't do anything too complicated at the games - the first scarf was a basket weave pattern. These are just what I feel like stripes, some open (yarn-overed) lacey rows.

Last game - with the black/silver/white scarf - the Thrashers goalie was getting his stuff together pre-2nd period. Again - looked at DH and then pointed at me, made some hand gestures - DH shrugged and did the "I don't get it" and they both shrugged and laughed. Our seat neighbors were amused. Some goalies just zone out, others actually get a look around. Evidently my knitting there is something different to look at (but at least it keeps me from getting too antsy sitting in one place).

Are you talking about the "new" one on BBCA? I think he may be one of the guys that was on Red Dwarf - but I could be wrong. I don't know that I'd go for sexy, but he seems more, umm, au courant?

LOL- you should see some of the Red Dwarf re-runs. He's the really dorky, anal guy who is a hologram. That will cure you of any thinking of him as sexy.

Great info. So now I understand why I'm confused between the BBCA version, and what is on SciFi. I think I like the 10th one better, but, will have to wait and see some episodes.

The hologram chap on "Red Dwarf" is Arnold Rimmer, played by Chris Barrie. I haven't watched "Dr Who" for years so can't comment on the current cast.

Exactly. Some of my colleagues get perturbed when I knit in meetings and are flabbergasted when I actually comment meaningfully on the proceeds. If I didn't knit, I'd sleep!

I understand that. I won't do knitting or stitching at serious meetings - for numerous reasons - not least of which is that I hate having to drop stuff to walk to a board and write some stupid equations, etc. Plus, since I've always been the only female around - with some exceptions at big, big meeting - it would be weird. OTOH, my team made me well aware that they thought I'm a bit on the hyperactive side - and had not issues with me kind of sitting in non-traditional ways at working groups (famous for sitting cross-legged on table tops).

At the games now the knitting is going well, since I don't have to look at it much. And, people around think it's a good luck thing - so if I'm not knitting yet, someone will shout at me to start knitting. It's kind of funny. Funnier yet - friends who've watched the games on TV will ask "was Ellice knitting?" It definitely keeps me happier. Because of the leg issue, I don't go up/down the stairs extra so I end up sitting in my seat during intermissions, and I'd go nuts just sitting. Besides, I can pretend the yarn keeps my hands warm - it is soooo cold at our seats - I wear a fleecy pullover over whatever top I have on, but my hands can get like icicles.

Same here. I took about half of my classes in common with DBF, and, frankly, his notes were much better than mine. #1, I tended to write down Trivial Pursuit answers rather than important stuff, #2, I tended to zone out when being lectured at.

Mrs. Prof was having a baby in a couple weeks and I was seriously behind schedule on the gift, so I took it to class. Figured we were going to study from DBF's notes anyway, so didn't matter if my hands were otherwise occupied, and since it was for Prof's baby, he could be cajoled.

Prof objected. I recited the last paragraph of his lecture back to him verbatim, proving that I *was* paying attention. Realized at the end of class that my concentration on the prof had not wavered once.
