crewel kit yarn

So, I'm working on a kit from Candamar designs and I'm running out of yarn (again)! Anyone know what kind of yarn these manufacturers use in their kits? The numbers listed do not match paternayan numbers, and the yarn is thicker than Appleton. I am hoping to find a place to buy the colors I need, instead of waiting for the company to send me more. TIA!

Contact Candamar and demand that they send you any extra supplies you need. There should be no excuse for places like Candamar to sell kits with too little in the way of supplies, or if they do, then they should take the responsibility to see that the shortfall is made up. HTH.

I don't remember who the manufacturer was but my mother once had good luck contacting one for some extra yarn. She said she expected a lot of hassle and run around but they understood right away and sent her plenty.

Thicker than Appleton and not matching paternayan speaks to me of Elsa Williams.

I emailed the company today and got a very prompt response! The yarn is no longer manufactured, but they are going to check their stock for me, and sent me a DMC conversion chart just in case they don't have any more. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, since I'm 1/2 done with the project. In the future I'm going to go out and buy my own yarns, since I *always* run out! Julie
