I am going to scream.

After 2 weeks of trying to arrange team/player photos for DS's hockey team, I've got a night, the photographer and another team needing photos. Cool! All set, I'm going to let parents know this AM.

Not so fast. Last night, at midnight, the league manager has scheduled us a game, same night at a rink in MA. With a team we have a game with Saturday and we've beaten that team once already, 10-2 running time from the second period. We have to play them in both divisions. What so we can have yet another lopsided game? This rink doesn't do running time until 3 period and a larger differential.

So, it's back to the drawing board. The parents want pictures in time for Xmas (which is why the scramble) this year. I'll call the photographer this afternoon and try for Thursday or Friday practice.

Vent away! It is a crummy job to have to put things together for an organization, isn't it.

I am sorry that things didn't work out for the pictures. My son's team had their pics about a month ago, but we still haven't gotten them. And this is the last week of their season. I hope they will be mailed or given out at the team dinner next weekend.

As for add on games----well, I can feel your pain. I am cancelling a dinner this Sunday because of an add on game that we need to be able to qualify for districts. And I wonder why they are just figuring out now that we are short one game.

Arrghhh!

Thanks Diane! I wouldn't mind having to change the picture date, if it were a game that mattered. The team we are playing is quite firmly in tier 5 and we are likely to move to tier 3 in both leagues.

I just got off the phone with the photo manager - pictures are postponed until we get the new schedule!

What position is he? Time for the high school break? The Midgets (high school aged) do a split season - Sept to Nov and again March to April. It will be interesting as DS has a very good chance of making JV or Varsity next year. The main goalie is graduating this spring, the back up will be a senior and there is no underclassmen.

Cheryl,

My son is now 17 and plays U18AA. He is goalie. Being the youngest in the neighborhood, he was always given the goalie position when they played street hockey. Well, he has done well all these years! We don't have a high school team, so he will play in a winter league that the organization puts together for them (to keep skills incheck). He plays lots of travel inline, mostly for the ProJoy ISCA Grizzlies. He does inline in the winter through to July, but these are just tournaments in the tri-state area, with nationals in July. Hockey traveling experience has been wonderful. I think it has made him who he is today.

Much luck to your son. I hope he goes as far as he can. You have to work hard to secure a positon, especially goalie, they only need two right? I know with us, he has to try out each season to remain on the team, there is no guarnntee. Hard work, determination, goalie clinics all help. High school hockey is great, wish we could do it. You get lots of exposure in the paper as well, which is a great moral booster. Keep getting those pics done. They are great to look back on.
