(OT) EGADS!!! Barely Wednesday and a rotten week!

Go to a good tire shop and see if they can mend the tire. It's is doable - your dealer should be able to help you.

Oh sh*t dear - I can send hugs.... Call your insurance guy - s/he might help with the tire since that sounded like vandalism to me. And the pop is no good for you anyway....;)

Tire was not vandalism - the metal was on the underside of the tire (car was in a sense, sitting on it) - it was something I drove (or parked) on. The hissing was a weird nose - kinda bubbly since I had parked in a tiny puddle....

And even though we called in a police report regarding the theft, I doubt we will turn it in to insurance because A) deductible won't cover it and B) our rates will go up - more than it will cost us to replace what was stolen...

Too bad - do see if it can be repaired though. My DH had high end tires and has had several mended after driving over screws and nails (friend of his was building a house).

Ah, yuck! I'm sorry you're having such a bad week! I hope it gets better immediately and is the worst week you have for a very long time.

I hope you want the puppy. If not, I volunteered at the Bloomington animal shelter long enough to know that they'll do the best they can by the little thing. Puppies tend to get adopted out right away, anyhow.

We will take her there to do a "found" report, and see if there have been any that were reported "stolen".... and also to see if they can tell what breed she is. She's mostly brown, but some of the longer 'guard' hairs are getting black, especially around the back & shoulders.... and she has pink on her nose.... floppy ears....with a white blotch on her chest between her front legs. DH has been calling her "Vicky" for Queen Victoria ;)

August 1985 - August 1992 with a break in 89-91 to live in Poland. I lived over on North Park, just off campus. Used to ride my bike to the animal shelter several mornings a week, just because it got my butt out of bed.

Unless their rules have changed, they don't allow adoptions as Christmas presents. Hell, I volunteered there and they still did a home check on me, including verifying my statement that I owned my own home, before letting me adopt my cocker spaniel. And I got him, even though I wasn't the first applicant, because they would not place a cocker in a home with an infant or toddler. They were very thorough. I'd be surpised if they've backtracked on that.

She's probably a mix of some sort. Is she young enough that the flop in the ears is temporary? Lots of prick eared breeds don't get pricks until they're 10 weeks or more.

As much as we would love to have a friendly puppy around the house, DH & I have decided to take her to the local shelter. We do not have the patience to housebreak a puppy (and since our elderly dog 'forgets' his housebreaking, it will just be confusing to her), nor do we think we can afford her with the expenses of our dog's medication ($60/month)..... It breaks my heart as she is soooo friendly... ...... Of course, I am the one to do it too, DH will cry just thinking about it...We had her on the couch with us as we watched TV last night (she was kinda gassy as we kept smelling poo, but since neither one of us had shoes on, nor been outside barefoot....)... I kept putting her on DH's lap as my aging Tennessee wanted my lap... but she kept coming back to me.... and when DH got up to mess with his computer in another room, she stretched out (like a cat) taking up one entire cushion of the couch!!!

On a side note, I sent a picture and a blurb to our local paper's special interest section, and they posted it on their online version - with a more in depth version to follow on Friday! I just emailed the reporter that called me last night to let her know that "Vicky" will be at the shelter this afternoon, and that she might want to put that any interested adopters contact the shelter.....

I sure hope Vickie finds a great home... Hope your problems get resolved quickly
