OT: Hi and back w/ time again

Hi all,

Just a quick "happy turkey day" - wanted to say hi. Just catching up on the reading of what's happening on the group.

Local news - once again - I've learned that being too competent is evidently a threat - and just got laid off last week. Tee hee. VA has some intriguing labor laws - so that by getting laid off before 90 days means no unemployment. OTOH - the lead nurse at the practice was against laying me off - but she lost out to the practice manager who decided better to keep some emotionally challenged screaming woman who is cross-training to help on the nursing side (as in can put patients in rooms, and do an ekg (without knowing what's going on ), and give flu shots - said screamer is normally a front office person than to keep me. As she's been there longer. Head nurse - not happy. Me - flabbergasted. Reason " you're the last one hired, and well, this other person says she feels really tense working with you" No actual complaints - in fact "you have great clinical skills, the patients like you, the doctors are fine (one really likes me), and you're faster with a lot of things. ... But, it's a team, and it's not your fault - it's just not a good fit"

Anyhow - in the meantime after crying on our Donna's shoulder - I'm enjoying some time off. And dealing with the multitude of personal little crises which seem to keep accumulating this year. Everything from bank screw up transferring mortgage payment, to shop manager not ordering stuff I need for sample that I'm doing for class to be taught in January (Jean Hilton's "Baroque"), to our storage unit being illegally auctioned off (yup, they sent notice to place we moved from 2.5 years ago), to most recently DH hitting potholes (2 in a row) on local road - blowing out 2 tires, and completely damaging 2 wheels, etc on the little TT. So, I'm thinking - it'll be really good when this year ends.

On a happy note - I'm hoping to get a lot of stitching (and house cleaning/arranging) done while once again job hunting. And, I'll have time to actually catch up w/ my net life.

Hope everyone is having a happy week, and looking forward to a lovely Thanksgiving dinner (for the Americans) and just a lovely weekend for the rest!
