OT: More disgusting weather !

I totally understand. We knew a lot of older people that would do the back and forth thing, but hit a certain time and had to decide where to be more permanently. If you're not going out and about, it's not such a big deal, but if you're active and inhibited because of weather, that's another thing. When I lived in Pittsburgh, I would marvel at the really, really, elderly women in the neighborhood schlepping their carts from shopping up the hills in that horrible weather. A hard way to live - though, no, not compared to years ago and in so many places with more difficult weather.

Of course, the kids might like the excuse to vacation visit. But, then they'd see you less often.

I think my mother and aunt were kind of screwed up as their parents did the dual thing. I believe part of this had to do with my grandfather and his business (show business, sports) dealings. My grandmother would drive from NY to Miami Beach, for the winter, then back in the spring. So, my mom went to 2 high schools. I imagine at some point the stayed the whole school year in Miami - at least for her senior year.

Ubderstood.

Who knows Mavia ? Not the weather person, that's for sure. Never do I recall a winter that lived more closely to the old saw about "If you don't like the weather, wait a minute, it will change" !

So the kids just went to bed, after a rather long day. They started to get cranky with each other around lunch, so they spent some time in separate rooms, and then I spent a lot of time refereeing and supervising directly, so didn't get much done. I'll catch up tomorrow. We did get all the snow shoveled, though. It was a bit of a grind because I had to use our metal gardening shovel to chip the ice layer that was underneath the snow, but at least we can get out all the doors. And we definitely need to get outdoors tomorrow ! :)

Did you know you can buy an ice breaker thingie at Crappy Tire ? They look rather like a garden hoe on a stout pole, if you put an edge on the blade with a honing stone so it is somewhat sharp, breaks up ice really well. Otherwise you will ruin your garden spade that way.

Bet you're glad they are now in bed, I can still remember how that felt lol

Thanks, Sheena. I'll look for one of those.

Indeed, I was thrilled! Finally a moment to actually complete a sentence! Though I did feel vaguely guilty about counting down to bedtime, but there are days...

I'll second Sheena's recommendation. I borrow my neighbor's from time to time. She borrows other tools, so we're even

I know those days. Some days I want to include my DH into the bedtime count down.
