OT: One of those days

Today I do not have anything that I have to do so I dressed late and commenced with daily duties. Needed to open a new thing of cat litter (I buy the big plastic bucket type) and they are sealed so securely I ripped my right thumbnail off opening it. Very painful and aggravating since I was standing right beside my tool box wherein there is a nice pair of pliers I could have been using.

Then I decanted wine that was ready from a 23 litre carboy - it had what is termed an explosive fermentation, only had it happen twice, but it leaves a layer on the bottom of the carboy that is really difficult to clean. In the end I stuffed paper towel in (I know, I knew this was a stupid thing to do) and shoved it around the bottom with a long handled spoon one has for wine making. That worked but it took half an hour to remove the paper towel.

Now I am sitting here with the Spot Bot working it's guts out on cat upchuck - I can't remember who it was here who recommended that machine, but it is great and I am glad I bought it.

Okay enough - it's a lovely day - stopped feeling sorry for myself lol

It isn't eleven yet so what more will happen?

No, it's a carpet cleaner gismo, good for small stains, does have a hose you can use for larger ones, but you wouldn't attempt a whole carpet.

Oh dear, you're morning was awful so your afternoon has to get better.

I know you've been anticipating that Hidiyeh would do that so at least you don't have to wonder anymore. That's one good thing.

The Spot Bot will get the stain out, so that's two and you learned what paper towel isn't good for.

Now I've decided the wine will probably be the best you've made in some time, so drink a glass or two or three and have good things happen for the rest of the day.

Yes, I use just hot water and maybe some oxy-gen, very sparingly. Great for people with pets or toddlers but as you say, I now have two noticeably cleaner spots on the carpet, it will settle in within a couple of days though lol

I wish I was sure lol

Enabler ! Maybe if I live as far as lunchtime I will sit in the sun with a martini, haven't had one since way back in the winter when we were at a nice downtown restaurant and they had $5 specials on their martinis - I had a Smelly Cat Martini - yes really lol It was delicious, a vodka martini with cranberry and I think Grand Marnier, everyone knows it is proper to sit in the sun for 20 minutes to generate that vitamin D, essential for those of us in northern climates they say !

I'm sure everyone knows I've moaned about the heat and the unrelenting sun here in Florida forever, but after this last week I'm willing to eat my words and I look forward to getting out of the house and into the sun.

Who wants to bet me that this enthusiasm for a hot, sunny day doesn't last long??? lol

Maureen uses a damp sponge with a little washing-up liquid to remove any little "accidents".

I know it seems a bit excessive but getting down to ground level is excruciatingly painful for me. While I can bend over handily to pick things up etc. cleaning up behind the cat is not the easiest thing. I actually bought it when my old fellow threw up some vile undigested mess right in the doorway, on the newly laid white carpet. I couldn't get it off and resorting to this machine, did.

Yes, I know there are carpet cleaning machines in the stupidmarkets but rent those three times and it is more costly.

Maybe it will.... It's been really nice here, not too hot, but I've been a slug. We brought more stuff home from the storage unit and have been spending too much time going through it. I'm actually avoiding doing chores I should do, as I start the new job tomorrow (orientation - woohoo). And I must do some serious stitching, as I teach another "twister" class on next Sunday.

Highlight of my day - I went to the local grocery early (needed milk and eggs) and found they had "Hatch" green chiles. These are largish, wonderful, earthy, New Mexico chiles, which are famous, come from the town of Hatch, and very difficult to find outside of NM, some in Arizona, and western Texas. They were 2 for $1, I bought 6, and the guy keyed them in, the price came up like $2.09. Yeah. So, I came home, and already roasted and peeled 5 of them and froze them. The house smells great. If you like SW or Mexican food - and can find these ever - they're really fabulous - mid heat - but a lovely taste.

Other thought - we saw that SW has a special on fares to FLA from DC. So, I'm hoping that after a paycheck or 2 we can actually buy some tix to head south sometime late fall. And visit Lucille (well, along with my family). I could really, really, really, use some time at the beach, etc.

You're making me jealous on two counts. I once found a bag of frozen roasted Hatch chiles. They were fabulous.

Second, the thought of a day or two on the beach, even if I'll resemble a beached whale, sounds great.

So come down with Ellice if she comes to FL. I won't go with you to the beach because I REALLY don't like the sand, sun and water, but I'll be glad to make some tuna sandwiches for you to take with you.

I did what you did. It's nice of HT to get some of those Hatch chiles for us.
