Sad news indeed, but I have to clarify: Which Ronnie was he? (It's been quite a while since I saw them.)
Karen E.
The big one! He wrote a lot of the scripts, too, and starred in "Open All Hours" and "Porridge". His partner in The Two Ronnies" was Ronnie Corbett (the little one!). I bet you see quite a bit of them in repeats now! Hopefully. We never tire of them and they just don`t date. There are no present day comedians who can hold a candle to them (Or Fork `andles either!)

We're losing all the great ones, slowly but surely.
I especially enjoyed "Open All Hours." I hope that it'll be coming out on DVD soon; it was definately a keeper.
I guess that means Granville inherits the shop now. lol Errr...I mean SIR Granville (the actor was knighted on the last Honours List!).
Nyssa, who thinks the old comedies were tons better than the new drek coming out
His writing was just so clever. Remember the cafe " F U N E M N X?" "V F M N X" etc. And the sketch where the lawyer pronounced everything wrong - turned out he'd qualified at correspondence school. The world is a poorer place for his loss. Carrie
That's too bad. Hope he went easily. Many a laugh.
An odd coincidence is that Nipsey Russel, who was possibly the first black comedian to go mainstream, died yesterday. He was one of the few "clean" comedians back in the 60's when he started.
Lucille
I LOVED Nipsy Russel! He was better than Cosby.

Ditto! I remember seeing him when I was just a wee shaver. I didn't even understand a lot of his poems back then but they were still funny.
What was that game show he was always on? Cheryl
Hollywood Squares, perhaps?
-- Carey in MA
I remember him, yes very funny lol
Hollywood Squares ?
He was on several different game shows through the years. The best I ever saw him on was something called The Liars Club. Four celebrites would describe how an unusual object was used. One of them would be telling the truth. He would make up the most outrageous things, but told them so convincingly that the players always voted for him.

doesn't he produce some of my fav Brit-com shows; like "As Time Goes By" and "Vicar of Dibley"???
The Match Game.
Nyssa, who often wonders why she remembers these things
I actually saw him at a kind of seedy Jazz Club in Brooklyn way back in the late 50's. My husband loved Jazz and we would go to this club every so often. They always had a really good Jazz Band and he was the MC, and the Comedian and anything or everything that needed to be done. We thought he was hilarious, and had a really clean act, at a time when raunchy was the in thing for comedians.
He brought back some nice memories.>>
Lucille
We could us more like him!
