OT-weather

Does anyone have time today to come here and help me build a boat? It's been raining so hard and so long that I've got puddles in back of my house big enough to float a battleship.

I believe I would have to skate down, bitterly cold, some wind to add to it and forecaster said same tomorrow. Why can't we share our weather then likely we would all be moderately happy.

See what I mean ? If we all had a melange of all our weather, it could work.

We didn't get normal rain today. They just issued a flood warning for Port St. Lucie till 10:15. It's the first measurable amount of rain we've had for months and it's been steady, except for very short periods of drizzle, since early this morning.

We have flooding in some of the "country" areas. Why on earth people built houses around here on a slab on grade I will never know. Our house (built 1917) is, of course, raised on piers, and has a reasonable front porch on which to sit and watch the rain pouring down. Not today of course - it is "verrry coooold" i.e. 45F. We'll probably see fur coats in church on Sunday!!

Oddly the area they are talking about as possibly having the worst flooding today isn't anywhere near water, except for retention ponds. The big problem is that the ground is very, very dry and the soil around here is a kind of clay with shells and rocks. It's so firmly packed after such a dry summer, fall season that it simply won't accept the amount of water falling down today.

Oh well, we had that a week or two back.A couple of inches in less than

24 hrs IRC.

That's the problem when the ground is too dry, or frozen, a good rainfall just runs right off before it has time to sink in.

I may need snowshoes to get there...

And darn it, darling daughter was supposed to be driving home tomorrow

- Massachusetts to Virginia. That isn't happening.

It's starting to pour again now. My puddles are now big enough to be thinking I might just need an ark.

Afraid I can't, but I could refer you to a wonderful boat-builder named Noah....Just hope you don't dislike animals...
