petty b*tching

Hey, I got about 3 hours of knitting in while waiting for the truck "repairs" on Monday. Read a little too. (finished Mystic and Rider, Only Dad (thanks Sheena) and started a screwball romance).

It certainly doesn`t indicate that someone on here has zero friends to turn to and people do seem to like to hear other folks` experiences from wherever they get them - and why not from a newsgroup? People on newsgroups have just as valid experiences and views and may just come up with something which might make all the difference. Any port in a storm! As is so often said - if you don`t like the subject or the poster - just don`t read it.

It's genetic. I'm always right unless I'm disagreeing with my father, who has priority rightness.

The children always surpass the parents. It's time for him to get the rightness gold-watch-and-pension.

Well there's only one whose whining drives me nuts - and since I just don`t read them any more - problem solved! Everyone else can whine to their hearts' content should they feel the need! They`ll get nothing but sympathy from me! ;-).

Mind you, there`s been more than enough whining going on in my family over this past few weeks. Badly bruised coccyx, various hospital tests, TWO lots of broken ribs in one week, one broken wrist, a rear-end car shunt, flu, back strain, and bi-polar episodes, one perforated lung, one fall from a great height and subsequent bruising, one fall in the shower and subsequent bruising, another major car wreck..........no, not all me!!! We`ve had a pretty incredible run of bad luck - or good luck things weren`t worse, if you take the Pollyanna approach.

The group isn't nearly as bad as it once was. I actually left in disgust for what was going to be a few weeks and turned into a couple of years. I've only recently returned and to my delight, found that only one of the instigators are still here and they were promptly put in my kill file.

I still see them occasionally when they are quoted in someone else's post -- but life is so much better with them in my killfile.

I'll play Pollyanna!! The house hasn't burned at all for a whole year! 2/3's of my kids are completely healthy! The left side of my head hardly ever bothers me, and my cats all use the litterbox now that the old one is gone!

How's that Pat?

I can tell you from running an online support group that there is a difference between people having friends to turn to, and having friends who truly understand.

A separate circle of e-friends who have a combined body of knowledge on the subject that surpasses your own is always helpful in such situations.

Well that presumably would be a specific group which would be totally different to medical advice and knowledge passed on a needlework group!

If you believe that just because it`s headed "Medical Group" everyone on there is actually medically qualified to give advice, then you`re stark raving mad. There are nutters infiltrating ALL groups, chat rooms, etc. The only way to be sure of getting genuine information is by seeing a qualified doctor, of course. All the same, people you`ve known and regularly engaged with over many years - even just on a humble needlework group, can often give you a pointer - and nearly always give a sympathetic ear, which is often just as important.

The whining doesn't actually bother me. It's one person whining and then complaining when others join in that makes me grit my teeth, no matter who the complainer happens to be.

Pat,

Nutters, double standards, massive amounts of irony....yeah, that sounds like most online groups! lol
