Re: Dear Red States

Speaking of reading into what someone says, Jinx didn't say you were just a whiner who makes mountains out of molehills. You do talk a lot more about how sick you are than about how much work you have to do. The only time you seem to have a lot of work is just after you've stirred up a real storm here and you think taking a break will make the rest of us forget whatever categorical condemnation of whatever group you've pronounced this time.

Nobody's bullying you. Why is it that when you get back what you put out, you think people are bullying you?

Right. I think it was me who said you were a whiner and if the shoe fits-----------

I have a coffee mug with that statement on it and it always makes me smile.

Sheena, you left out all the wishy-washy female stuff. Goodness, 20 lashes with a gingham apron string, if that's okay with you.

Wise woman that you are, you have touched the heart of what is wrong with all this "men are like this, women are like that" nonsense that has bee posted, and the notion that the way men do things (and a very stereotyped notion we've been given here, too). It keeps both men and women from being who they truly are.

Thank you for the attribution, Donna. That quotation has given me, and probably many many other women, strength, courage, and a good laugh.

Dame Edith Evans, far from an average woman, said "If a woman is going to behave like a man, why can't she behave like a nice man?" Dawne

I don't believe you have such an item lol I think anyone would know I would never be into wishy-washy female stuff, nor could I tolerate friends like that (they wouldn't be friends) but I am still out (senior citizen that I am) meeting new people and my internet group friends (right there you know I have varied from all the old people Karen knows) and young, or old, they are not as Karen paints them.

I think it is very unfair to other women to try and brand them in this way, especially since it is not the truth but as I have often said, woman is often woman's worse enemy. I think I know men fairly well, was married to one for 43 years, have associated with other men in the years since David died but the last one got the boot fast the night he suggested moving in ! Besides which, Bucket didn't like him and bit his toe. Actually the moment of clarity hit me when I found the wet towel dropped on the bathroom floor - asked myself if I was going that route ever again and the answer was a very firm NO.

I value, and always did, my female friendships above all others. Any woman who does not comprehend the joy of the sisterhood is lacking a basic element and as such, deserves our pity.

I always liked/admired her, particularly her stance against boxing. She said - for one person to get between the ropes with another and endeavour to push the others cranium sufficiently hard for it to press on his brain and render him unconscious, it can't be called a sport - those are as near as I recall her words.

Poor Karen; I feel for you. Obviously intelligent women routinely misinterpret your words. You were raised in a privileged environment where you were taught good manners and went to dancing school. You went to college but didn't finish law school which forced you to work in menial positions in the legal field. Because you talk like a man, the bimbos in the office routinely chose you to interact with hostile bosses. You elected to marry an SOB who tried to take everything with him when he left. You've got a debilitating syndrome that leaves you unable to work but does allow you to spend many hours a day on your computer.

I can honestly say that I have never met anyone in person or online who is so self unaware as you are.

I'm sorry I never took any of her history classes. I had her a Humanities 101 class to fill a gen. ed. requirement. She was a very interesting professor. Those classes were never boring. I've got copies of her first two books and was extremely happy when she won a Pulitzer prize in 1991.

Because I take offense at all your bigoted blathering, sweeping generalizations and whining and had the guts to call you on it?? When my best friends get out of line, I don't kowtow to them, either, but it doesn't make me hate them. But I guess as a "lily-white midwesterner" and not a native NY'er, I"m not entitled to speak my opinion, much less have one.

No. Repeating "factual evidence" over and over again so as to prove your point like a child is whining. My knee can hurt like hell from arthritis. Telling you once is factual evidence, telling it to you 100 times is whining. Making sure you know that my pain is far worse than anyone else's could ever possibly be, well that's psychotic. This isn't a courtroom, you don't need to bring in "professional" opinions about your character in order to prove the rest of us wrong. That's just absolutely ridiculous AND childish. Downright silly. I'm embarrassed for you. Give up the lawyer act. Reality check: you're not one! Stop overcompensating for your failure in life. MY "professional" opinion remains: you're a whiner. There, I said it.

You know what the most ridiculous thing about this whole conversation is?? It was started in order to point out your "Dear Red States" letter was offensive. But instead of taking responsibility for it, you belabor it until eventually it comes back around to how great you are and you're nothing but a victim. Poor Karen. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Grow up.

J.

Why is it that you're judgments about us are always right, but our judgments about you are always wrong?? Anne is perfectly entitled to her opinion, just as you are.

J.

OMG!!! You're a female version of Denny Crane -- bombastic, self centered -- except he has a degree in law and you just think you do!!

Well, now we apparently know where Stuart Smalley's mirror got off to after the skits were cancelled.

And how, pray tell, do whining, blathering posts equate to "sentiments" of "F.U?"

[Whiny pedantic drivel snipped]

I must say, apparently I'm lucky - I only needed to "know" you a short time to know that you're a whiny twit.

Then why, pray tell, do you spend so much time trying to convince everyone that you're a victim? Spending so much time defending yourself sure seems like a desperate need for approval.

See above.

The only bitch trying to diminish your "self-worth" is you. HTH.
