So what are you working on?

That's a beautiful piece...but I wish the photo were larger so I could see the detail!

I'm into my third year on Herrschner's winterberry tablecloth--all satin stitch, 60" x 90".

I plan to give it as a housewarming gift to friends who have Pfaltzgraff dinnerware, winterberry pattern. I'm beginning to see the end of this project, which is encouraging, since this housewarming gift is long overdue, and I'm eager to move on to something new.--Mavis

It is so nice to hear what everyone's projects are. I mostly lurk as most of you know so much more than I do and I learn so much just "listening". My WIP list is; Sea Sampler from V & A Collection--DMC Albemarle from Stitchin'Spiration---Sally Rudkin Flamenco! from Papillon Creations in reds/pink---DMC 221 & 223 Emperor Penguins from David and Charles book---Polar Bears and Penguins---on a pale gray I also have a few needlepoint things on the back burner. I planned to take them up north when we left AZ for the summer, but DH has been very ill and has not been released by Mayo Clinic to leave for MN. They are; Laura Perin's Sedona Sunrise Northern Pines Designs ---Southwest Stars on black 18 count and lots of glittery threads Old Town Southwest Sampler from Cherished Needleart And some small stuff for grandkids. I hope this will keep me busy this summer and out of trouble. LOL Clarice in AZ/MN

Hi there. I'm back after many years of not following newsgroups and lurking for the last few months. The last ten years have not been ... easy, to say the least, and for a long time I had all my stitching stuff in storage and couldn't get at it, and then there were lots of times that I didn't have it in me to stitch at all. But for the last two years or so, things have been getting better at long last, and I'm back to stitching. Two years ago I said that I wouldn't start any new projects until I had finished all my UFOs and except for one, I stuck to that. It's AMAZING how fast the WIP/UFO pile grows back up again!

Right now I'm working on:

A Crossed-Wing Christmas. Birds on a snow-covered pine tree covered with all kinds of treats. I have about an hour of cross-stitch to do, and then the backstitching.

Mary Ann Dufresne's Zodiac Cat -- Sagittarius. These cats have so much attitude. I got all 12 zodiac signs, but it took me a while, and she's out of business now. This one has a cat marching off with the Sagittarius arrow in his mouth. The bow is in the sky. Almost done with the cross stitching, and then there's a few specialty stitches and some beads to add.

Dragon Dreams "A Dragon's Quilt" one border and one large square of the quilt and the dragons left to do.

A polar bear in the moonlight. All done with 3752, 3753, 3756, 931,

932, and white. I can only work on this for small periods of time as I chose a pale blue fabric to make it look even mistier. I have no idea who the designer is.

Martina Weber's/Chatelaine A Convent Garden. I bought this with money and gift certificates that I got for my 50th birthda three years ago. It's all silks threads and expensive Japanese beads and her designs are gorgeous. I was about a third of the way through it, when it got rained on. I had left it on the bed underneath an open window. The color from one of the silk threads ran and ruined the piece. There was no hope. I've started it again, but my heart isn't in it in the same way.

Le Jardin, another silk sampler from a Just Cross Stitch design from about a million years ago. About half-way through, stuck on the satin stitch roses, which I've picked out about six times. I decided that this time I'm moving on, no matter how bad I think they look.

I am looking forward to starting a sampler of beautiful cakes from a book called Splendid Samplers to Cross Stitch. This design was the reason I bought the book. It has a hardanger edge to it. I've done it already for some friends who have a bakery, but now I want one for myself. I also just received some iron-on charts, and plan to do a couple of shirts, one with a waitress spilling things off her tray and the other with some sushi designs.

I'm glad to be back and I apologize to anyone I might have offended or inconvenienced all those years ago.

Who at the Mayo are you seeing? Jimmy Lee and I went to school together. And he can call himself anything he likes now that he's got MD after his name, he's still Jimmy to me. Pbbbbbbbbbt! (Drop in on him next time you're there, and say hello from me.)

Hmmmm, I may have to take a look at that. Not that I don't have way too much stash already.

The only thing that keeps me out of trouble is staying out of LNSs and INSs. :)

Very nice. I can imagine how much time it's taking. I'm perpetually late with my housewarming, marriage, baby needlework gifts. Just the way it is.

Yes, I am, although the woman at the framer's cut the foamcore a smidge too small so they're going to try and see how it works. I told them that if it doesn't work I can loosen the stretching and slide a slightly bigger piece of foamcore in. The first one was someone I had never seen there before and should have questioned her about it when she measured it.

I forgot to mention that I did it on a natural linen, rather than white.

So far I'm hanging in there...and the light is good at the dance studio (and have the magnifier at home).

I am seizing a couple of moments on WiFi at a campground to put in a quick answer, Today, I put in a peaceful couple of hours on a non- challenging project; Elizabeth Design's WINTER sampler. The other three seasons are completed and framed. I have also started Victoria Sampler's August Birthday needleroll, which will bwe a 13th birthday gift for the eldest grand-daughter; I didn't feel like anything too challenging today, so that will come out when we have settled somewhere for a week or two. I have about a dozen other projects with me in the RV, some WIPs, and some I want to stitch. (Also some knitting)

WE have had our second day at StAugustine D+FL, and have visited with DH's #2 son and his family; off early tomorrow, heading towards Ohio.

With My Needle's "Quaker Samplings 1" is in the QSnaps on the floor stand. TW's "Carousel," originally intended as this year's fair entry, is languishing. A name badge for my LNS's looking-to-be-quarterly Stitch Inn (they've only had two: one in February and one in May) is sitting around waiting for me to decide if it's done or if it needs something more. A frame weight that will be more decorative than functional is nearly done, stitching wise (this was the May Stitch Inn's project). I'm still trying to decide if I want it finished-finished with the lead weight inside or finished-finished over styrofoam. A scissors bed that was the February Stitch Inn's project is started but a long way from done. The next two letters of the Erica Michaels Sampler Book are waiting in the wings, as is Long Dog's "Mouline Rouge." Still bouncing around in the brain awaiting a final decision is which Quaker motif to stitch for a friend's June birthday and how to finish the piece.

I didn't know if it was okay to post a company's name or not. They're from Sublime Stitching in Austin. I think it's just

They have great patterns and the people who run the company couldn't be nicer.

I thought it might be them - hadn't noticed the waitress before - and I love the new camping series - maybe Gillian needs these to decorate her RV sweet RV LOL!

Ah, what a pain. But hopefully, she'll have learned from that mistake. It's worse when the piece doesn't have enough fabric border, so you have to stretch on a small piece of foamcore, and then fill in the back so that the mats will lay properly - like fitting a jigsaw puzzle in the framers.

There is a new framer - I think it's a franchise of a chain - in our community SC, and DH & I took a walk around. Yikes is all I can say. Terrible framing. They sell a lot of prints, giclee's, and clearly are doing a bunch of framing for the locals. Nice moldings - the Larsen-Juhl stuff. But, the frames are poorly constructed, corners not properly closed, not puttied, and the dust sheets in the back - the flimsy, cheap, thin brown paper (like they're recycling the sheets that come with your glass in the packing boxes), no bumpers on the frames at the rear base. And the mat cutting - I don't think we saw one single one that didn't have the extra notch or tear in a corner, and a bunch of things were rippling under the mats. They had some matted with foamcore - to do the spacing thing - but didn't know enough to have that hidden behind a mat, so the bevel you see is the mat. But, no CPF logo in the window either. I felt sorry for the nice couple working with the semi-clueless girl out front. I'd seen, heard the guys who must own it one morning - kind of rude - and you could hear them laughing in the back. I have the feeling they're in the make the money with no clue about proper framing techniques, or caring. Haven't decided about putting up a things to look out for on the community bulletin board, chat lists.

I'm sure it's gorgeous, as all your work is.

Ellice - who is going to go downstairs and work some more on Poseidon - now about 1/5 done, more or less. Darn, I'm tired of green, green, and green.
