I still just might design something with that!

There's a woman on the TWBB who's doing all the Mira mermaids on a lovely seafoam linen.

Mine is called Celery or something like that. Goes nicely with the green of the tail. :)

I'm doing mine on a 28 ct. dusky greyish blue Cashel linen - the colours are showing up very nicely on it. I love using the coloured fabrics for most patterns - white and beige are just so boring now and there are so many gorgeous colours to pick from.

Hmm - I use mostly white and cream as most of my own designs cover the whole area - I keep a stock of sky blue though, for "Lazy" designs that don`t need clouds! I love black, too, but not at the moment now I`m awaiting cataract operations!

You, too Pat? I have a pre-surgery apointment this Monday to schedule the second eye. It is a bit of a pain stitching one-eyed so to speak!

I don`t have them done yet - some time next year, I think - my optician reckons that he`ll have to refer me next time I see him. John just had his second one done, and said if he had a third eye he`d have it done tomorrow!

Well if your designs cover the whole piece of linen, why not just use the white or cream? I see some gorgeous dusty pinks and sage greens and I'm going to try those too when I find the 'perfect' pattern for them. I worked on navy for a while - snowman family - but I guess the old eyes aren't as good as they used to be - I didn't enjoy it immensely. But I will finish it some day cuz it's an adorable pattern.

I guess I should have put some emphasis on some words there (like why *not* just use ...)to get the point across - I know that's what you said me darling. I guess what I was trying to say is who'd know what colour was behind all that gorgeous stitching of yours anyway? Got out of that one, now didn't I? :-) And just what *are* you working on these days, Missy?

One about 279 by 150 of Otley Hall, which was the home of Bartholomew Gosnold who was the actual leader of the party for which John Smith (of Pocohontas fame) was more famous, as Gosnold died shortly after settling at Jamestown - it`is the most lovely old place, still privately owned and used for conferences quite a bit. It`s only about tenmiles from us and

is one view of it, although I`m doing one from another angle (I find water a bit challenging and am doing just a little water with a couple of swans on it, just in one corner.) I`m doing a lot of greenery at the moment, and getting a bit bored with it - I want to get back to the tudor timbering again. Much more fun. On the other hand you really need the greenery to set it off.Oddly enough, Pocohontas herself is buried only about 60 miles away - just in Kent -

Oh please tell me about how you did during this surgery, what it was like post-surgery, and how long it took you to get back to normal.

I have an appt Monday am to see about getting it done on my right eye, and am frankly terrified.

John`s just had his second eye done - it wasn`t even red when he took the cover off next morning, and he keeps forgetting that he doesn`t need his glasses now! Just had to have drops three times a day for a month - actually it was as right as rain the very next day. Nothing to worry about at all - he says he`s had more discomfort having a hair-cut!

I had both eyes done several years ago. I had a minor problem with swelling in the first eye that was done which was a nuisance, but it resolved itself nicely and my vision is fine. My doctor thinks the problem with the first eye might have been caused by an allergy to either one of the meds used or possibly something as innocent as the patch they put on right after the surgery. With the second, he changed the meds and I never wore a patch and it went absolutely picture perfect. No problems at all, very little discomfort and good vision.

I was able to read immediately after surgery and do some needlework. Within a couple of weeks you won't even remember that you had it done

Even with the problem I had the first time, I had no qualms about going for the second eye and if necessary, I would do it all over again.

Good luck,

Lucille

What about the vision immediately afterwards. I mean, do you have to get accustomed to anything, or is it okay right away?

Thanks, Lucille. I really am nervous about this, more than I was about my mastectomy, which probably makes no sense at all.

No problems at all - he said everything looked lit with such a clear, bright light and colours are incredible. You might have an entirely differnt view of your embroidery after that! Can`t wait to get mine done. Depending on the surgeon you either have a local anaesthetic (by injection) or anaesthetic drops. John had both, and there`s absolutely nothing to worry about either. The worst thing is all the drops they put in your eyes before - wait a spell - then some more. But that`s really nothing. The actual surgery takes about 20 minutes, and yopu don`t feel a thing,

Go, girl! I`m really envious!

Thanks, Pat -- I am amazed at how much worse my vision has gotten in just the past couple of weeks.

I'm ready to believe there's not much choice about doing something.
