Another project finished - now I need a break

One of my co-workers left, there was a going-away party last week, and I managed to finish up a good-by quilt for her in time for it. I'm so sorry to see her go, but she got a really good offer from a local firm.

I wanted to make her something special, as she loves animals, esp. bunnies...and I happened to have some animal embroideries, so....

If you'd like to see it, I've posted it under my "Quilts and other stuff" album on Webshots.

Hopefully this is the last time I only have two weeks to make something. Talk about stress...I need a break! LOL

What a happy kitty, Irene. How did you do the satiny-looking edging? Is that binding or a clever machine stitch or what? Inquiring minds need to know. Sure is purty. Polly

That's a beautiful quilt and what a lovely gift! I need to get moving on the beachy wedding quilty thingy or I'll be in the same boat soon!

Hi Polly, I think you mean the edging on the embroideries? It's a clever machine stitch :) This is the first time I've played with it and I've had my machine for two years. About time, heh?

Two years? That sounds about right. Recently I saw a wonderful SM expert on SQ demonstrate a chenille stitch that happened simply by using the right foot and the right settings. Of course, she could do some really great stitching with strange threads in the bobbin. Sometimes she worked from the underside but that will take some real courage. And faith. Polly
