Echo quilting photos

The question raised by Miz Polly reminded me that I still had an unfinished table runner (waiting for binding) in one of the piles! I've posted photos of it because it is an example of echo quilting. The other poinsettia table runners that I had made the same year (at least 8yrs ago) were stipple quilted. Gary's quilt is a finished item but I also echo quilted it around all the duck appliques - this was made as a Xmas gift in 1997. I couldn't resist posting a couple of Winston & friends photos - just because! In the table runner/topper album are photos of a set of placemats that I recently finished. I had asked a friend to pick up some fabric that was available at an lqs near to her home - long story short: she saw more fabric that she like herself and asked me to turn it into placemats - she'd wanted plain ones using the fruit/green/blue fabrics. I did that and then decided that the fruits should be in a basket - so the 'other' side of placemat was designed! The first set of placemats that I had made for (20yrs ago) have just worn out so she was ready for a new kitchen set - and I'm sure that I had told her not to wash them!! ;) jennellh

I used echo quilting around the kokopelli in the center block of this quilt: . This one was done by hand. The echo goes all the way to the edge of the block. Rows are approximately 1/2" apart. On the first few rows, I marked a few spots around the applique. After that, I just eye-balled it. With enough rows of echo, you don't really notice some irregularities.

Oh Wow! I am madly jealous. My echo quilted quilt looked awful and these look so lovely. Those poinsettias are gorgeous - so rich looking. Your work is a real treat.

Winston is looking good!

We are hoping to bring home a kitten in mid-October. If I post a picture of her, I hope you will introduce her to Winston. I would like her to know such fun felines! I have a feeling she will be a personality too >g< She already seems to have a little mind of her own (heaven help me!!). . In message , jennellh writes

Hi Pat - what fun to anticipate the new arrival - has she told you what her name should be? We definitely need to bring a new friend into Winston's life - any photos yet? He's had a hard time this week

Yes, we have named her! We are going to name her after our very first cat, who died very young - and we want to celebrate her. So, she will be called Misty. Her prefix is Midnightstar, which goes beautifully with Misty. I won't post any pictures until we have actually got her here - just in case! We have seen her twice (4 weeks and 8 weeks), so when we get her at 12+ weeks she will be showing quite a lot of development. I'm trying to get all sorts of chores done, so that - for the first time - I can spend the first few days cuddling and playing. We can both nap at the same time!!

Maybe it's the time of year - we've had some little fluff explosions lately, from our boys! . In message , jennellh writes
