Father Steve Williams, who works w/ the McGill boys and St Pius CYO, has been going over to Bayou LaBatre in his SUV (and trailer in tow) delivering water, food and supplies to folks who have lost everything. Several people commented that they were in dire need of shoes.
Later that night, Father Steve was talking with his priest friend at Auburn University, telling him what he had been up to for the past few days. The following Sunday (this past Sunday), the priest at Auburn University was telling the congregation of students about Father Steve's visits to Bayou LaBatre and how they were in dire need of shoes. He said that, if anyone had anything to donate, they could get things to him and he would, in turn, get them to Father Steve.
At the end of Mass, around 200 students went to the Altar, took off their shoes and walked back to their dorms barefooted.
