Finished a Quilt!

My grand plan was to make each of our grandchildren a quilt in their school colors and give it to them for Christmas during their junior year in high school. That went well for the first one, but by the time the second one was a junior, the plan went haywire. Then Christmas of her senior year passed me by, but things do have a way of working out. It turns out that the school colors of the college she's going to next year are nearly identical to those of her high school, so I was able to use the fabric I had purchased nearly three years ago! And her birthday is next month, so the grand plan changed, and the quilt will be a birthday gift instead of a Christmas present. I finished the piecing last week, the backing arrived the next day, I loaded it for quilting on Sunday, and put the binding on last night. I love it when everything falls into place!

Here's a link to pictures of the quilt if you'd like to take a look. Thanks!

Oh, come on now, Louise. That's a gorgeous quilt but we want to see the quilting. Can you do us a close-up to see what wonderful stitching you did? Polly

I think you can get to other pictures by clicking on the smaller pictures in the window to the right of the quilt, but in case that doesn't work for you, here are a few links to the back and closeups

Thanks! Hmmm, I didn't think about U of MN, but you're right - it'd definitely work if she changes her mind and decides to go north!

Wow, what a wonderful gift and won't she be happy to wrap herself up in a 'love hug' quilt from Grammy? You do beautiful work, Louise. Donna

Thanks, Donna! I gave her a baby quilt when she was born, but I don't think her mother ever let her use it. I hope she wears this one out!

I think she'll be pretty happy too. She's really low-key about things, though, so I don't know if we'll ever know for sure!

Thanks! I love it when those illusions just sort of happen, even though I really didn't plan it with that in mind.

Thanks, Taria. It was really nice that everything worked out the way it did, because our schedule this week wasn't exactly what we expected, and I don't know when I would have finished it if I'd had to put it away for a week or so!
