Loved the ocean WH. Did you design that little boat yourself?
Denise
I can't draw something from nothing, but I can modify something that already exists. I modified a clip art drawing from a royalty free clip art CD I have. I took the boat outline, smoothed out some of the bumps on the boat body, rounded some of the points for easier applique, and then reshaped one of the sails for esthetic reasons. I re-drew each piece with an added seam allowance, stitched them with a muslin backing, then slit and turned them, which rounded the points even more. The original mast was just a blah straight line which I could have easily made with a strip of fabric but I wanted something better so I was going to use a de-barked twig until Mom showed me her large swizzle sticks which had the perfect ball on the top. By the time I was finished with the modifications my boat looked quite different from the original clip art boat, but I'm not willing to call it an original. Debra in VA See my quilts at
Thanks for looking. Glad you like them. I'm learning in a steady progression.
Weird, I replied to this once before but I don't see the earlier reply at all.

It came to me here, Debra! Rather than on the NG. I had a feeling of deja vu seeing this reply this morning >g< . In message , Debra writes
Very cute, Debra! I really like your clever tropical fish wuh.

Thanks Karen. That one was an idea born from the need to decorate the bathroom and the sight of a set of fat quarters in a Michaels craft store. Now if I could just think of something to do with the two orange marbles in the set I'd be happy. I foresee something harvesty in my future, or maybe a Halloween WH for DH. He loves Halloween.
