Happy Dancing like mad! Finished in time for Christmas!

Finished! De-cat-furred! Wrapped! Mailed! Insured!

This is a Christmas present for my MIL: a red and black sofa/lap quilt. The border print and focus fabrics (which took a trip to a quilt store, an e-bay auction, and an online purchase to acquire) look like Russian lacquerware, so I call this one "Ekaterina."

's_quilt1.jpg Machine pieced, hand quilted (around the motifs and along the stripes in the border and diagonally cross-hatched in the middle).

It doesn't show well in the photo, but the outermost row of squares just inside the border is made of different red and black fabrics than the other squares. The black has small red dots and is used for the binding as well.

I am more than moderately pleased with myself! This just leaves newsletter, cards, beading, last minute shopping, wrapping, packing and travel! No problemo!

How absolutely dazzling. Wish I could see that creation up close and personal. I'm betting that the tiny dots on your black add an 'ahh, just right' touch. Good, good for you. If your MIL decides to decorate in beige and puce, I really could find that gorgeous quilt a happy home. Polly

Oh wow! What rich, beautiful colors! Those are *my* colors. I'm afraid if your quilt got accidentally delivered to my house, you'd just have to collect on your insurance! LOL! (not really, but man, I'd love to get a quilt like that) I LOL'ed at your "de-furred" remark. This is the last step to quilt- making at this house. Sherry

I also have to de-furr everything in my house from quilts to clothing to furniture. I bought some of those adhesive lint rollers from a dry cleaners supply store. They are sooooooo much better than the ones from WalMart or the Dollar Store and not much more expensive, either! More adhesive squares on the roll, stickier and just plain great. QI owners might want to look into using those 'professional' de-furring tools.

Gorgeous, just gorgeous! I love your choice of fabrics, and I think I'm seeing that the outer row of squares is just a shade darker than the others, right? It adds a beautiful, finishing touch before the border arrives to frame it. Beautiful!

Just gorgeous, Monique! It looks so warm. I would say you could do better than being "moderately" pleased with yourself. :-) Your MIL is going to love it!
