I-5, No Calif quilt shops

I will be doing a car drive from the SF bay area to Ashland , Or and then on to Sunriver. Are there any must-see quilt shops along the way? I know there was one in Ashland, and there are several nice ones in Bend (and we will get to Sister's one day as well), but I was wondering if there was still any shops in Mt. Shasta, and whether it was worth bothering with or not, as well as any other newer places along the route? I tried googling, but it doesn't seem that the web sites are very up-to-date. Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks, Nancy.

Nancy - I travel that corridor all the time - at least from Vallejo to Yreka! Let's see, I probably don't have websites but I do have names and towns. I can attest that all of these shops are great!!!!! Let me know if you need more info.

One question...if you were only going to stop at one of the places, and probably not the closer to home ones like the Vacaville or Winters place, which would give me the most "bang for my buck"? ( I will be traveling with my DH and two teen/preteen boys who have zero interest in these kinds of stops!)

out of all of those I would choose Red Bluff and Mt Shasta. If you only had one to choose, I'd say Mt. Shasta. Your dh could drop you off for a designated time and he and the boys could go explore either city park, Lake Siskiyou, or the mountain. Lots of fun things to do. There is also a great sporting goods store on the same street as the shop just down in town further.

Sew Unique is really a great quilt shop.....Weston's has quilting fabric (good quality) and a lot of other stuff. I'd go there 2nd if you have time.

Nancy - my dh just reminded me of another favorite place we like to visit in My Shasta (while you are fabric shopping!) and that is the fish hatchery. Anyone in town (or the quilt shop) can give directions. It's just over the freeway........

You're right! Usually it happens right after we finish our 2 week vacation! I did see it one year though....very nice.
