just when I thought I was finished...

... well I thought I was going to be finished with the last of the quilt tops I was making today. The quilt top on the other hand has other ideas. I vigilantly stitched together all the blocks I had made with the sashing in place. I then laid the top out on the floor and to my amazement discovered it was going to need another complete row of blocks to be wide enough. I still haven't figured out how it laid out right before the sashing on the floor and now it is way to narrow???? Now this one is a first for me. Ah! not to despair.... I now have the pleasure of making another 9 blocks of little cars to finish the quilt. julia

Remember.. . if you laid the blocks all side to side across the floor -- fabric edge to fabric edge.... and measured -- you included a lot of seam allowances in your measurement. The more blocks you have... the more you lose. -- you lose 1/2" for every block. So after you sewed it altogether --- you could lose several inches or more -- !!

Been there... done that!

Gosh Kate - I thought you'd come up with a revolutionary new diet there

- I was skimming thru the posts and all I initially read was the last few words of your posting:

And I thought - yaay, I could do with dropping a jeans size or 6 - what do I have to do?!lol

Mind you, I guess if I was to do a lot of scrabblinbg around on the floor after errant qiult blocks I might end up with a new aerobics routine - what'd'ya all think?!
