Let me introduce myself

Maybe he'd change his tune if you made him a quilt of his own, Karen? ;)

I retired just six weeks before turning 52 -- let me highly recommend remaining retired! LOL!

Lovely quilts, Karen! I especially like your DD's quilt! :)

The Mississippi River separates Wisconsin from southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. I've seen promotional literature from an area on the Mississippi describing its location as "the west coast of Wisconsin". :)

Nor is mine! I found it again only yesterday, but couldn't refind it today! It seems to be more user friendly - it used to crash faily frequently before. But a lot of dots seem to have dropped off over the years - I'm sure there were more before. Jeanne - where are YOU - you've fallen off too!

We move the clocks back an hour for winter this weekend - yippee, an extra hour in bed!

So you are just having your lunch and I am late in bed (12.30a.m.)

Now will that help or hinder DH getting over his jet lag? He gets home from South Korea tomorrow evening and we have been working on an 8 hour time difference for the last two weeks.

Me too - it is just too tempting to check the last few messages before going to sleep.

Hi Karen Welcome from the east side of the Rocky Mountains, in Alberta, Canada.. Seems we have several things in common. Roughly the same age, although my kids are older and I now have a blended family with 16 of them. VBG Plus 28 grandkids! I also have a 7 year old Golden Retriever, who will gladly inspect anything I am doing as long as he can be close by. We had a female also but lost her to cancer in the spring. I also prefer piecing to applique, traditional over art, useful over purely decorative. Although I don't have much time to actually do much these days! I share all of your interests except Disney World. Been to Disney Land once and that was enough! Not retired, but am now self employed. Most of the time it's great but there have been a few days I've wished I could tell the boss to do it himself! VBG! This time zone thing is great as there is usually someone about 24 hours a day on here. And I'm sure as a group we can answer pretty much anything. LOL!

Come sit by me! I've got chocolate covered raisins today! (and wipies).

It was promotional literature -- advertising for the tourism industry. Like a lot of advertising, it was probably not intended to be taken literally. I got a chuckle out of it, in part because we used to live very near another Mississippi River town in Wisconsin. You are correct about the proper terminology; ad men don't seem to be constrained by conventional usage.

Julia > the Mississippi 'River'?

Hmmmm I thought that time was time was time the world over? It's 3.12pm here now on Wednesday - hump day (hump as in middle of the week, downhill to the weekend, not well, you know!) for us workers.
