OT: dad update and a see you soon

My dad has been put on a ventalator (which we thought was no longer a possibilty). So things are definitely going backwards in a grand fashion. After talking with my mom last night, I realized that she was having difficulty in comprehending all of this and (in my opinion) trusting the doctors too much without asking questions. Like "why in a two hour span did he go from doing ok to vent" and "why did the doctor ask what are dad's wishes regarding heroic measures". I think it is time that someone is with her all the time now and asking these questions. My younger sister and her hubby and kids are arriving this afternoon and I told mom to "gently demand" a meeting tomorrow at 9 to find out what the heck is going on and to give NO options of "if the doctor can't see us, have him call us" etc. Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers and thoughts. Can you do it a little bit harder now? I have no idea when I will be back. But will keep others in my thoughts and prayers as they have requested. Grace

So sorry to hear this, Grace. You and all your poor family having to endure this roller coaster. Your Mum may just not have the strength to do any demanding; so it will be wonderful if you can be with her - at least for a bit, so that she can re-energize herself. She's probably not getting much real rest. Take care, all of you. .

What doesn't help is the fact that the more time you spend in hospital, whether as a patient or a visitor, your brain turns to mush and you start being unable to make any sense of what 'they' are telling you... Your mum is quite rightly worried out of her socks and you need to be with her to ask the right questions.

You have my continued prayers and support, and my wishes that things will turn out ok.
