Long life and good health to all of you battling cancer now. I have my mammo every year in October. I have to pay out of pocket because of our genuinely sucky health insurance, but it's worth every penny for that peace of mind.

Are there any women's groups in Phoenix that can help you. You shouldn't have to wait until you have insurance!!!!!!! Please look into it.

Pati, there are ways to get a free or reduced charge mammo. Please do it. Google "free mammogram" or contact your local American Cancer Society. Seven years ago a routine mammo revealed a suspicious spot, confirmed by biopsy to be DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), stage 0 breast cancer. I had a lumpectomy and radiation and all has been good since. Those mammograms are important and can be life saving.

Sending prayers and good thoughts about your biopsy. I had open biopsy in April. All was NEGATIVE .... Yippee! Tomorrow I will have the 6 month follow up mammogram.

Tomorrow is also the funeral service for Congresswoman Jo Ann Davis, who represented Virginia's First District, where I live. Jo Ann died of breast cancer last Saturday at the age of 57. She was a strong supporter of our local Relay for Life, and marched in the Survivors Walk in 2006. She was absent this year, but sent best wishes. Rest in Peace, Jo Ann.

Best wishes to each and every one of the survivors who are reading this message.

I get one every spring! Our local news station has a "Buddy 2 Buddy" reminder on the 6th of every month - encouraging every gal to call her "buddy" to do a quick self-exam between mamograms.
