Pami update on breast cancer/reconstruction

I had the other breast lifted Friday May 4th and the surgeon took care of the dog ears on the breast that was removed from the cancer that now has an expander in it. I'm sore but not as sore as I expected. He did a great job on the lift. I can't tell you the confidence the lift to the other breast has given me. I have turned down several parties down because I just felt I didn't look proportioned and not I think I'll be able to put on those blouses and sweaters with pride. I even started sewing again...made a few hug blocks and will finally tackle that quilt you sent Polly fabric for. I also have a lady in the group I am member of WWCOF which stands for World Wide Circle of Friends....her name is Deanna from Virginia and she is a quilter didn't know about RCTQ. What would be the easiest way to direct her here....you'll love her...she is spunky and is working on String Blocks where you use up all your fabric strips. I told her about my lovely HUG quilt from the group. Hugs to all, Pami

This is amazing! I came in to the computer this morning, and my first 'task' was going to be to post a message asking if anyone had heard how you are, Pami! I clicked on the group ... and, there you were. Wow! What marvellous news that you are feeling confident about your body again. Sorry I can't help with directions for Deanna - my DH found RCTQ for me! I am such a dunce with IT. . In message , Pami writes

Ah, Pami, Patti's right. What a blessed way to start our day. How marvelous, how wonderful. (Pardon me while I burst into song.) I think the gators are back from taking the tourists out to dinner and will go do a happy dance in the Swamp mud with them. Polly

Hey Pami! Wonderful to "see" you! Glad you are starting to feel more positive about "life". Would love to "meet" Deanna. I'm sure one of our more computer savy friends on here will post directions to get onto the newsgroup.

I've made a couple of string quilt tops. They do help to use up fabric that isnt much good for other things. I hope to have time to get back to quilting soon. At least I have to get some blocks made for a swap that I joined.

Happy quilting

YeeHaw! It's great to hear from you Pami. I'm sure this last surgery will boost your confidence and spirits. I get my newsgroups from my ISP. We have Time Warner Cable so that is RoadRunner for the internet. They have a link to newsgroups, and she can just just look for RCTQ on there, and click join. It works the same for other ISP'S.

Just read all the post and makes me almost want to cry to hear I am an inspiration. I sometimes feel like a coward and want to give up but I am only 51 and have a wonderful husband for almost 29 years and a 22 year old son and this wonderful group that keeps me going! I actually have one more surgery after this to fix my expander so I can leave that in. It did form a nice shape and hide the port. If he leaves the port in the surgeon can add and fill if needed...once the implant is in ...it's in. I am in pain today. I just took a Percocet and it can't even mask how tender the skin feels. My husband played gardener today for me. I had so much Hosta we had to transplant and lots to give away. A lady form Freecyle in my area is coming to get it. One year I bartered with out local nursery...but I just can't garden this year at all. Hugs to you all... Oh Polly...you keep those gators down there....hehehehe Pami

The gators want to know if Percocet is good for severe hangovers. Too much beer on spring break methinks. Polly

Oh Pami, I'm so glad you posted. I don't write very often, but I do check in with the group, and I hadn't seen a post from you recently. So glad you're doing ok. You really are an inspiration and we want you around for a long time! I hope you aren't in pain for too much longer. Gentle hugs to you, dear, and also for your dear hubby for taking such good care of you!
