PING - Jo Gibson

Does anyone have any news on Jo yet? Has she had her babe?

Just curious.

Mark drove over to Dundee today - there are many new potholes on the road due to the recent snow and ice. Mark managed to miss most of them.

I was due yesterday. Baby shows no sign of shifting. Both the midwife and the consultant had a right good feel, which really hurt my pelvis joints and the baby wasn't too happy either! Much wiggling and kicking afterwards..... They even managed to get blood out of me, "The Stone" today.

They offered to do a "sweep" but I wasn't interested. I have heard it can bring on intense, painful contractions, that yes it does start labour but not slowly as your own body does but in a nought-to-sixty sort of way. I said as long as the baby was fine, I was happy to go a full two weeks "overdue" if necessary. (I personally think the due date is January 20th, not the 12th like they do.... I sat down and worked outu the dates from my last period in April).

In the end I agreed to go back on January 20th for an internal examination, and possibly agree to a "sweep" on that day. They said to bring my bag and the baby's bag in case it all kicks off and we don't have time to go home for stuff.

So there we are. I came home and made a snowsuit out of red fleece that has sheep on it. Too cute. I sew to stay sane.

That all sounds perfectly normal.

Too cute indeed. We expect to see the new arrival in it when the cherub lands!

Have a beer and a curry if you get fed up waiting. I swear that's what made James arrive on his due date! ;)

No, no. My Mom and Grandma both swear you need to take down all the curtains to wash and start cleaning out you're messiest, most packed full of junk closet and the baby will arrive!

Or if it's summer, start canning peaches.

I'd already tried stripping wallpaer. That just put me in hospital for a week!

It was October. I'd already made mincemeat, Christmas cakes, and Christmas puddings!

I get a kick out of all the different methods of starting labor. I think there's a restaurant in ....NYC?... that has a soup that has a reputation for helping to jumpstart labor. I guess I was just oblivious to any signs and signals previous to active labor. That fits....I'm oblivious to a lot of signs and signals!

Not to worry Jo, My doc said that DS was due on the 2nd and I told him no, it would be on the 14th. I knew the date of conception, I was using a basal temp. method to get preg. I used my cow chart to look up the due date, was living on a farm and having cows bred by AI. Cow's gestation is the same as human's. Yes, he arrived on the 14th, Valentine's day 38 years ago this year. Bonnie, in Middletown, VA
