Prayers, Good Wishes, etc. requested

Good Morning,

I never thought that I would be sending a message like this to the group. But, one never knows.

As some of you (the Get It Done group) know, I was diagnosed with lung cancer in November. I am doing quite well for now and this request is actually not for me.

One of my coworkers was diagnosed with cancer last February. The doctors told him that he probably had about one year. Despite agreeing to every treatment, clinical trial, etc. that came his way it looks like Mike's prognosis was correct. He is now at home with hospice care.

May I please ask that this group do what you do even better than quilting and pray/wish that Mike's final days be pain free and his passing be peaceful?

Thank you! Rita L. in MA

Rita, You've been on my list. Now Mike's needs are now on my prayer list too. As a captain of a Relay for Life Team, I keep a 'running list' of people needing prayers, and share this info with my Team. It means a lot to us to be able to pray for cancer patients, and their families.

I am very happy to hear you are doing quite well for now. Maybe when the weather gets nicer you will come back this way for another visit. If so, I have a new LQS to show you! Hugs and good wishes, PAT in Virginia

As sad as it is, I'm glad he chose hospice. They are the best for care and pain control. Thoughts and prayers for both of you on their way from IN...

Prayers and warm thoughts are on their way. It is wonderful that he is able to spend his final days at home.

Yes, hospice is a wonderful resource. It provides for the patient and the family. A near relative was in hospice a few years ago and his wife and kids received opportunities for counseling before and after his death. He is one of the reasons I am a Relay for Life Captain. Now a more distant relative in law is in hospice. I'm keeping her, Mike and all who love them in prayers and thoughts. PAT

My sister, a breast cancer survivor, does the 5K walk every year - my husband and I walked with her this past year - it is just so overwhelming to see all the people who come out to support the survivors of this dreaded disease. I'm a Hospice volunteer and so proud to be part of their organization - getting involved in such things really makes one feel they have a purpose in life - I enjoy every minute of it.
