Quilty Friday

Well, Quilty Friday with the teacher friends got off to a bumpy start. No real start time was mentioned, and I figured that most of them have animals to tend to, i.e. horses, dogs, etc, so they would be up fairly early, so I dragged myself out of bed a couple of hours earlier than usual in the summer, and showed up on her doorstep at 9:00. Not too unreasonable of an hour I thought. After all, if we're going to have a quilt day, let's get started and get a move on and go till whenever.

Well, it was good that I didn't show up any earlier since I arrived shortly after the hostess had gotten out of the shower. Then I found out that one of the teachers wasn't arriving until nearly 11:00 and the other maybe not until 12:00. Ooookkkaaayyy. So I chatted with DH and played with the dogs and toured the house and grounds and finally another teacher arrived, around

10:00 so I dragged my stuff inside and then the other teacher showed up and we were all sewing by 10:30. Munchies and beverages along the way, lots of school news and family news, and get to know you stories and lots of laughs.

I worked on my red sticks, Bev worked on her wavy squares of darker bali prints, Vicki worked on a pattern out of Quilters Newsletter and Zolea, brand new and snagged into quilting, worked on a Yellow Brick road in 12 colors of orange, turquoise, chocolate and various other complimentary colors. We all made fair amounts of progress and I now have about 30 out of

80 squares done.

Zolea left about 4:00 to wash dogs for a dog show tomorrow, Bev left about

5:00 to feed and water the horses, and I left about 6:00 after helping others and packing up my stuff.

Really wish we had started earlier and went later, but it was still a nice time. We actually had a heat wave today. It got up to 77 at our house! In real temp, not "in the sun" temp. It was 80 at the quilting venue. Blue sky, not a cloud, and a beautiful view of the mountains surrounding Anchorage, Eagle River and Palmer with the Knik River down below. It was a pretty good day overall.

Sounds great, Steven, though I can imagine being tired and ready to go home a bit earlier than you all did. ;)
